Retain half of McDonagh and the Jets agree...his contract sucks

Tampa very quickly declines both of these. Even if Stamkos waived his nmc, Tampa wouldn't be retaining nor accepting a poor return. McD's contract may become poor several years from now, but he was was easily Tampa's best dman during this run(due to Hedman being injured), and he's worth far more than this. He would also almost certainly not waive for Winnipeg.

I think they lose two from trades and two to FA and keeping the core relatively the same is worth it.

They make a deal to have Seattle take Johnson, trade Palat for value, and let Coleman and Savard walk most likely. Savard was likely always a rental, and Coleman is likely priced out unless Tampa moves both Palat and Killorn(which seems unlikely). The team loses some depth but won't be trading a ppg player and a #1/2 caliber dman for pennies.
