Leafs have to move on from Rielly or risk losing him for nothing, and they need to see what they have in Sandin. They can move pieces around in season or trade for a top 4 D at the trade deadline if the price is reasonable.

Rielly said he'd take a discount to stay supposedly.. he's worth 6M all day... i say why move on if you could resign him for 6M. He's the best we've had since kaberle/McCabe... he fits in with the room..

If that is true then they should definitely re-sign him. Rielly is captain material. He's a leader and he was great in the playoffs. I just don't want to see another Hyman situation play out.

Pens protect McCann. He’s 25 years old and had .75 PPG last season. And back to back 35 point seasons the 2 years prior. Can move up and down the line-up as needed and plays a good 200 foot game; was an analytics gem last season. On a good salary.

Pens protect, Sid, Geno, Guentzel, Rust, Kappy, McCann, Blueger. It’s not that hard.

They expose, Zucker, ZAR(rights), Tanev, J.Carter, Lafferty.

Come on my man, Sup and a 3rd(2023) for McCann isn’t even close to reality for a 25 year old(just turned 25 last month), coming off a .75PPG season and 2 back to back 35 point seasons before that. One with 19 goals, and one with 14 goals.

I get as leaf fans we are conditioned to hate our own players but in what world does Rielly only get two seconds. Tampa traded a first and a third at the deadline for savard. If we held Rielly and traded him at the deadline we can at least get that, trading him now should get even more.

I don't think he's worth more than 4.5.
I don't think he's a true 1D, and that puts him in the 2LD range.
TOR fans can think whatever they want, his 5v5 corsi is 50%, even though he gets roughly 56% of his starts in the OZone and plays with some of the best offensive players in the league.
I'm sorry, do better. No one getting shifts with Matthews and Tavares should be at 50% corsi. There are holes there when that is the case, It's not the forward group.
This is what's wrong with the TOR team. They over rate the defensemen, who frankly are not that good. You have to call a spade a spade.
If someone wants to pay him 6 mil per, let them. TOR is better off not making that deal.

I've said this over and over, the penguins have cut a deal. The list doesn't mean anything. It's just a matter of time till they know what the deal is.
Besides, losing McCann isn't some great loss. But they would want more from him than that. Hell I'd rather just have a decent pick a good prospect and the cap space.

The Leafs D is underrated. The only question marks are Sandin and Liljegren. Is it the best in the division? No. But its good enough to enable the forwards to do drive play. The Pens didn't have a fantastic top 4 when they won their cups. They had Hainsey on the top pair in one playoff run.
