Description

Yzerman makes a deal with Seattle to take Panik by adding Ottawa's 5th round pick. Looking at the big picture for managing assets, he anticipates the value of other assets at the trade deadline may have greater return than the 5th round pick: Namestnikov and Stecher probably nets a 3rd round or better, Cholowski, Smith and Svechnikov still have potential to be part of the future or traded for potentially a 5th round or better.

We can probably get Vanacek for less as SEA will probably take him if available. I like going after Cossa as you mentioned, but I think he’ll be gone.

Bertuzzi isn’t a good fit with the Kings IMO. Brown is getting older but he still provides a similar style. I like the return, but I don’t think the fit is there

Just wanting to point out that Askarov was in last year's draft, you're mistaking him for Wallstedt.
I think Detroit either drafts Wallstedt at 6 if a top LHD isn't available or if Cossa is available when Nashville is up they trade up with Nashville since they're the team to take Askarov
