Stanley cup contender

Description
Explanations:
•Danault gets a similar contract to Eriksson Ek and Nugent-Hopkins
•Kotkaniemi signs a transition contract
• Lehkonen's contract terms are a bit long but the cap hit is good
•Perry accepts to sign for only 1 million
•Coleman is overpay but he is a Stanley Cup champion and I would love to have a player like him in my team
•Their is no cap space to sign Armia
•Bernier is a good veteran backup but I am not convinced that he can do the job. He is still cheap and they are not a lot of good UFA goalie this year
•Merill and Gustafsson will be replaced by Romanov and Fleury. I think that they are ready to play some big minutes and would be a good robust third pair

Drouin needs a fresh start and I think Seattle would be a good fit for him. I dont think his value is high and as a Montreal fan I would just be happy to let him go and make space for other players

    1. Gourde, Yanni
    Détails additionnels:
Gourde is certainly a guy that Tampa want to keep but with their cap situation they will have to let go some big salaries. The first pick could help to protect important player like Cernak in the expansion draft and force Seattle to select Johnson. Plus Evans is a valuable player that can play a bottom six role. At 25 he can still improve his game and has a good contract.

take out the 1st, Tampa retains $2M and Habs might consider... but Kotkaniemi on the 4th line?1?!

This Habs run reminds me a lot of the 2017 Ottawa Senators. One win away from the Stanley Cup finals that season and every year since they have basically been a top-5 worst team in the NHL. While I hope the Habs don't take that substantial a dip like their Canadian counterpart, I have a tremendously hard time believing that they will make the playoffs in 2021-22 considering how much better the Lightning, Bruins and Panthers all seem to be, and that's even including the playoff-bust Leafs.

Evans and a 1st to help TB's cap situation is a joke.

that Gourde trade is not bad , Evans came into his own the last half of the season. You may need to add another in addition to that pick , like a 2023 3rd
if the Habs signed Coleman as well that would be a tough line to play against with Gourde at center and Anderson on RW.

I think the main point for the Lightning in this transaction is to free up some cap space. But maybe a first round pick is too much considering Gourde’s contract.

It's $4.4M in cap space habs can do a lot better with that in free agency without giving up Evans and a 1st. It's terrible.

unless Tampas retains, they should send Habs a 1st rounder to pay for cap dumping
