I don't really see the point of wanting Caleb if the Hawks are not going to trade for Seth.

Once Caleb is traded to the Hawks, the odds of Seth wanting to sign an extension with the Hawks go up.

At least I'm not that far off.

Only difference is whether Columbus would want Mitchell or Murphy smile

Of course there's a point in trading for him. Caleb is his own player and has the upside to be a solid piece in a top 4 group. I think that alone makes venturing to get him more than worth it for the Hawks

Given what's been going on recently, trading for both brothers would be such a great, family-friendly PR move from the Hawks.

They could also wait a year and sign him without giving up assets. Don’t think adding Jones alone makes them a contender so they can keep building up assets and make a push in 2 seasons

Caleb looks more like a 7th dman. Upside i think is way overblown. The trade today sucks for the Oilers but losing Caleb Jones isnt part of that

A year from now, Seth Jones might sign a extension with another team because the hawks didn't trade for him.

Using your logic, the Sharks should have left my beloved Ottawa Senators hung out to dry when we needed to trade EK65.

Yeah it’s a risk but if hawks aren’t willing to part with certain assets I’m just being realistic that they’re not going to land Jones. I also don’t think super highly of Jones so might be a blessing in disguise for the hawks. Much like it would’ve been for the sharks lol

It's another lottery ticket we can try to turn into a real piece. I'm all for another experiment, especially if all we had to give up was a guy 15 years older on his last legs.

I've seen a little bit of Jones and while I haven't been overly impressed, I do like some of the tools he possesses. If they can refine them, there's no reason why he can't become an NHL regular

Absolutely. I think the Hawks win the Keith deal all day long, even though Keith is still a great player and leader. He's the kind of guy Edmonton needs on their back end. They give up a roster dman in Jones for a roster Dman in Keith and the 3rd round pick covers the intangibles that come with Duncs. Jones, to the Blackhawks, is a bargaining chip for trade negotiations with Jarmo and Seth in Columbus. I easily see Strome, the 11th OVR pick this year, a 2nd next year, and possibly a young Dman prospect. Super excited for this offseason. I think Seth makes sense to come to Chicago. From Columbus to Chicago isn't that far. I don't know whether Seth cares about location, but if he likes the greater Columbus area he isn't going too far. Great deal and great moves being made in Chicago. Seth Jones could be the Dougie Hamilton of the Blackhawks rebuild. Since getting Hamilton, CAR has been good. Maybe the Hawks see more success by adding a bonafide top 2 defenseman who gets to play hockey with his little brother.

100%. he had flashes of brilliance but on the main he made huge defensive miscues when it mattered most.

I laughed for a good 5 minutes hearing the trade news. This after breaking my hand yesterday in softball. Thank you Ken. Nothing but a positive for the Hawks no doubt. Bowman pulled off a miracle to trade Keith with no leverage. Holland is a dinosaur
