I know Tarasenko is damaged goods but that's not a good trade for the Blues.

Faulk isn't waiving, And Colorado can't afford Tarasenko. Seth jones is probably heading to Colorado for one year.

      Vancouver Declines

The decline is not because it's a bad package, the decline is because losing Eriksson's cap hit for 21/22 would only help the Canucks if they are ready to win the cup and want to spend big $$$ this offseason on free agents. They aren't and therefore they don't (unless Benning screws up again, which is entirely possible). The Canucks have identified 9 really high quality players in this year's draft, and they likely won't get one at pick #16.

      1. Dakota Joshua is getting a QO easily - will bee a good guy that can come off the bench and play on the 4th line
      2. Neither Thomas nor Kyrou will sign an 8 year deal for less than 6.5, they are both looking like bridge deals at about half the value you have here
      3. Pitt is not trading Pettersson for Faulk
      4. The Avs aren't trading for Tarasenko, look more towards Boston or NYI but it will more than likely have a team like Det in it to eat some cap
      5. Husso is better than Johansson
      6. I kind of agree on Schenn however I don't see this happening, he will be a Blue for a while. By the end of his contract 6.5 won't be as bad of a cap hit. If the Blues want out of his contract they should look at moving him to Washington for Kutz.
      7. You also over paid Sanford and Barbie a bit
      8. The Vancouver trade makes no sense, they should be able to buy him out this year if they want.

Other than these things you did a good job

Jim Benning is still the GM, the owners want playoff runs now, Benning will spend big dollars this offseason (it's almost like the cap is fiction to Benning)

I think they think they are, everyone knows they aren't but benning thinks they are I'm sure.

I just don't see him admitting his mistake of bad contracts by paying to dump them.

Agreed, still doesn't change the fact the owners group and Benning do believe they are ready

These trades are all comically over-the-top bad. WOOF.

And there is almost no chance they'd help the Avs out in any way.

      - Not saying I like the trade mentioned, but due to his age, buying out Eriksson only saves them 2 million on this years cap, and he'd be on their books for an additional season, too. (@ less)

      - Vancouver may not want to be big game hunting this off-season, and there may be better trades they can make or players to buy out (Virtanen), but they have Hughes and Petterssen to re-sign AND a roster to fill out, so I think finding some more cap room is probably tops on the Canucks list.

The additional cap penalty is 1 mil
