I think they should think about trading Malkin because he won’t sign next year IMO.

I'm not sure they do. It's not an obvious yes from the Pens, however they've proven that they can win without Malkin, and the window to win again is closing on this team rather quickly. The 'go nogo' factor here is Drouin. If he is mentally healthy again, the combination of him and Kotkaniemi can replace Malkin's offense, and they are WAY younger. Add in the draft picks, and the Pens may use this package as a Chicago-like rebuilld.
1. geno already said he wants to finish his career as a pens and maybe ahve one year in russia
2. you are undervaluing malkin tho i get that mtl guys are younger but you don't just trade the second/third best player of an era like that. plus pens proved they can win without malkin in regular season (same without crosby cuz they are both unreal) but in the regular season... and we really only care about playoffs now.
3. I think the team we had this year was much better then a first round exit... we were unlucky + jarry going a bit crazy + injuries like geno.... if we stay healthy in the next 2-3 years i believe we still have a shot at one last cup with this core....
and just imagine if geno stays and agrees to a paycut (2-3- mil less) that would bring us over the top
