Man I really hope he finds his old form with Hawks. Always liked this guy.

I am not able to link the tweets for some reason, but I also spy top line winger Blake Coleman on Calgary.

BB has been 12 in the AHL. I don't recall who's been hogging it on the Lightning.

I thought Johnson's day as a 1C were over, but Kane can probably make just about any player a 1C in terms of offensive production. I hope he scores a lot this year and has some fun with a greater opportunity. I can't imagine being buried during the past 2 regular seasons on our roster was very fun for him.

I don't think anyone has worn 12 since Ryan Malone.

Yeah Malone is the last player I remember with #12.

But Simon Gagne wore it best in 2011.

Might be a little late to the party but Stammer did an interview on 32thoughts which was pretty great. The way he talks about his career through injuries and stuff, super humble and a very honest appraisal of himself. Worth a listen.

Well, we start the preseason with a 3-1 loss to the our inclement weather friends.
Their 2 power play goals are the difference in the game.
BB recorded our only goal with assists from Katchouk and Ryfors.

Sergy, Rutta, Colton, and Joseph looked fine, but never found the back of the net.
As for players trying to make the Lightning's roster, I thought Katchouk and BB stood out the most, with Ryfors probably coming in a close 3rd behind BB.
Quiet night it seemed for Raddysh.
Elie looked the best of the experienced organization depth we signed over the offseason, but I do not think he's in the roster conversation.

I thought Ryfors stood out more than Katchouk, but maybe that's just me. It's a game we weren't really expected to win just looking at the number of NHL players in each teams lineup. Lagace also played well

We didn't have any NHL caliber forwards like Kotkanemi or Trochek playing tonight. Result was expected, and Legace stood on his head a few times. I thought he could have saved the 2nd goal, but a solid effort nonetheless.

I thought Katchouk moved the puck inside and outside of the offensive zone the best. I see why Ryfors was getting praise from Cooper though, he's a hard working forechecker. Coopers kind of player.

#tblightning made their first cuts in camp. They assigned forwards Jack Finley, Niko Huuhtanen, Cameron MacDonald and Declan McDonnell, and defenseman Roman Schmidt to their junior teams. Xavier Cormier and defenseman Avery Winslow were released from their tryout.

Finley, MacDonald, McDonnell, and Schmidt all played last night vs. Carolina. Probably wanted to get them a game and not hold them back from their CHL teams whose seasons will be starting soon.
Huuhtanen did not play, but is in the same boat.

I think the only player still with the Lightning that is required to play in the CHL this season, unless on Lightning's roster, is Jack Thompson. He was on the travel list for yesterday's game, but did not play.
Maybe something to keep an eye on? He could possibly play some games to start to season with Foote out.
-- On second thought, I don't think it's possible to have him on the roster with our current cap situation, unless someone else ends up injured. He will probably still get an extended look in camp after an impressive AHL debut last season and having looked like one of our best defensemen in the prospect showcase.

How's everyone feeling about this regular season? I kinda feel like I did at the start of the 19-20 season after the sweep. I don't know how much stock I'm putting on the regular season. It's weird. I'm usually way more hyped. Hockey burnout? Is that a thing?

I'm excited to see the new guys (ABB & Katchouk especially) and watching the PP is always fun, but with the loss of the 3rd line (which if you think about it was really the 2nd line) it doesn't feel the same. The 3rd line was the identity and fun of the team.
