But trading a first for a guy who played 18 games for you is acceptable?

We will get a first and amirov/Robertson type of deal

I think if trading a 1st is out of the question then the trade doesn't get done. If Yzerman trades Bertuzzi id be surprised if it didnt include a 1st or a piece of similar value.
Robertson and a late 2nd is a reasonable package, Detroit's need is quality of talent not quantity of talent so they would probably persue an offer where they are recieving a higher pick unless someone is willing to trade a prospect so good they shouldnt be traded á la Forsberg for Erat (which the leafs of course should not do)

Not enough for Bertuzzi. We'll take your 2022 first instead of the 2nd. We also don't want spare parts in Engvall and Dermott.

-2022 first
-Robertson or Amirov
-Sandin or Liljegren

If "trading a first for him is out of the question" then a trade isn't happening.

I think the Leafs have overpaid in both of those trades. You can find help that won't cost that much, nothing particularly special about either of these two players.

The guy who had the most goals in the OHL for a 55 point guy who played 9 games last season. makes sense.

Dubas caught an L in that trade. He was desperate and he really believed the Leafs were on the verge of a stanley cup appearance. This situation is different.

Right it's a division trade that the wings dont have to make, so again the leafs will have to overpay to make it happen

Robertson is still unproven in the NHL. And you have to give up something to get something. True, there are injury concerns with Bertuzzi. The Leafs will have to do their due diligence before trading for him.

Yup, prospects hold less value because they are an uncertainty, we have not yet seen how Robertson's game translates, and if it does whether he can drive a line or not. Bertuzzi is a known quantity.
Using the 9 game argument is a bit odd, he was injured and missed time with surgery, it's not as if he missed the games by being a healthy scratch. Take a player like Kucherov, he missed the whole season but that doesnt affect his value because we know what he is and what he can do.

Man this gotta stop.
Sure this would improve the team right now, but by how much really? And trading 8 pieces for 2 players?
Does bertuzzi and garland really improve the team by that much more than just spending that 9 mil in free agency?

So what has Burtuzzi showen that proves hes worth the best scorer in the OHL that was on pave for 60 goals up their with Kane and Tavares. Stop. Burtuzzi put of 48 points. and hes 26. Every Prospect is unproven at the NHL level. So i guess Owen Power is no good. Like. cmon. Ill give u Amirov. Not the best scorer in the OHL we have seen since Tavares and Kane.

Bertuzzi is not the belle of the ball. There are lots of wingers on the block and in free agency. The trade will be fair for both sides or it won't happen. I don't see Dubas over reaching again. Aside from his Foligno deal his track record with trades has been pretty good.

Then go get one of them for this package, bertuzzi will cost you what every wings fan on here had been saying

How is using the 9 game odd. U saying that a prospect doesnt have good value because they are unproven is odd. Guess Every team should turn down a Owen Power trade for a 7th because hes unproven.

Quality over quantity.

And since Dubas is in the habit of trading picks left and right, why not put those picks in a package deal for impact players? The playoffs showed the big four need help with scoring when games get tight.

You’re not wrong and it’s ridiculous they need help. This is why Marner should just be traded.

Commenting on the 9 games shows you are setting a narrative where you are intentionally undervaluing Bertuzzi based on a factor out of his control, that should not have an impact on his play in Toronto.
If you have a look back at OHL top scorers you can see that some prospects can nail it in the O and not make it in the NHL, i.e. their metrics in junior do not guarentee success at a higher level.
Top OHL scorers before Robertson: Justin Brazeau, Dmitri Solokov, Alex DeBrincat, Christian Dvorak, Joseph Blandisi, Dane Fox, Reid Boucher, Tyler Toffolix2, Bryan Cameron, John Tavares, Brett Mclean, John Tavares.

You can see in there that there are some great names, some good names, some players who had some time in the NHL, and some who failed to make an impact.
We won't know which of those Robertson will be until he actually plays, which he has not done. He looks good out there, he looks like he should have a regular NHL shift one day, I couldnt with any confidence say he's going to be more than a middle 6 winger. Is the gap between an established middle 6 winger who can be an excellent complimentary piece on the top line and a potential middle 6 winger who could still just not pan out really only a 2nd?

Yo Seider53, I've been following your posts on here for some time and wanted to see if you were interested in joining the GM Game here on CapFriendly. It's been around since 2017 and it's basically a multiple, full-year round Arm-Chair GM with other users on this site. You'd be in charge of drafting, trading, free agency, etc. all along with some sophisticated scoring and playoff structure. I'd think you'd be a great addition to the game. If you want to know more or have any questions, just reply to this post and I'll be happy to answer them.

Probably a thank you but no thank you.
I'm pretty casual and usually just come and go on a bit of a whim, it's interesting to argue prospects for 20 minutes of a bored evening, but that sounds like it has a much higher commitment threshold, sorry man.

But thats just u thinking that he wont pan out. Unfortunately u have to take that risk, or else no-one in junior has value.

No, Detroit does not have to make that risk, at all. A Bertuzzi trade is only in Detroit's interest if the value is good, if it's not they keep him and play him.
