That would be the one Tarasenko trade I would approve of, but I don't think Kreider would waive.

True, but I could def see Doug Armstrong adding it to his pile of 6.5m long-term deals. I think he's trying to win another cup and the long, souring contracts are going to be the next GM's problem as far as he's concerned.

Personally I think the Blues could do themselves a favor and open up some flexibility with the cap by moving Tarasenko for some picks, but they keep talking about how the 'window is now' and how they'll spend to the cap so I expect them to look at deals like this.

Oh I think the Blues would love to get "just picks" for Tarasenko and then use that 7,5m to spend on a UFA(s). But it is so difficult to trade a 7.5m player without taking similar cap back in a trade.
Kreider doesn't seem to be the guy the Blues should get....but as you suggest, Armstrong loves these long term 6m plus contract.

Tarasenko has requested a trade and has a full NTC to block any destination he doesn't like. He's coming off 3 shoulder surgeries and hasn't looked good since 2019. What can the Blues demand in a trade? There are a few reports that suggest they've already been asking around and getting rejected. Player and buyer are holding all the leverage right now.

They can absolutely ask for a pick plus a roster player, he is being undervalued
