They will retain just do to teams knowing vlad wants out and he hasn't played much over the past 2 seasons.

Trade with vlad will happen hopefully sooner rather than later. This isn't a problem you want to have all offseason

Saves you money going after a retained Vlad than eichel. Also your giving up less for vlad than going for eichel
Blues add Kakko who is still young and had bright spots this season. blues also end up with the 15th overall pick and they can package to move up
