OldNYIfan as I responded to you in another thread...Eichel went about his way of getting traded by going public with him and the Sabres not agreeing on surgery. I hate to keep quoting the "insiders" but Friedman has said the Sabres want to move on from Eichel. Actually Adams did an interview with LeBrun (the Athletic) today Adams talked about the young core as being Dahlin, Cozens and Mittelstadt never mentioning Eichel, Rinehart or Ristolainen. Friedman said today on his podcast that he was talking to a person from a team that the ask is high and when asked what it was the person said that he couldn't divulge it at this time. He also said that another team said that if the trade doesn't happen soon they are out.
I think the Sabres plan is a complete rebuild without saying that...I think that's the reason why Adams wants another top 10 pick. Then stink again this year and hopefully get in the top 3 for next years draft.
I think the only thing that holds up a trade is if it doesn't get close to his asking price. Adams may give in a little but he isn't going to have another ROR trade go down. I think he goes the Sakic route and holds true to himself. @Tjm220 makes so many valid points but in the end I think Eichel is a goner sooner than later, later being the draft and there will be a ton of 'I told you so's' on here both ways.
Personally, I am exhausted with waiting for this trade to happen but once it does Rinehart will follow shortly for those that missed getting Eichel. Rinehart is the perfect get for LA in my opinion.

They're definitely doing a complete rebuild. The rumor is that Adams wants all futures, I think this is a three year plan. Get pieces this year and next, then go for it in 2023-2024.

I totally agree, Buffalo isn't going to just give him away, they want fair value in return. Hopefully his neck heals and he doesn't require surgery. If he needs it, I think he'd have the fusion and recovery time is 6 to 8 months. Then we'll see what happens next summer. I'm content with the Sabres finishing dead last again. One positive is that hopefully they get lucky again and win the 1st pick and draft Shane Wright. Then maybe they can convince Eichel to stay.

Is the recovery time for fusion that long? My friend had fusion done in his neck right after Xmas and by March he was taking a full swing hitting golf balls and he is in his mid 50's. I think the surgery Eichel wants is different and he said it was a fast recovery during his exit interview.

Fusion recovery time is within 9 months, most return in 6.7 months. I had spinal fusion for C3,C4,C5, C6 but that was 25 years ago and the recovery time was a lot different then. The surgery that he wants done no hockey player has ever had it. MMA fighter Chris Weidman had it done and he recovered and returned to fighting.

Here is what is being said on the Eichel surgery per John Vogl....didn't think it was fusion

Eichel has wanted to schedule an artificial disk replacement since suffering a neck injury in March. The organization says the procedure has never been done on an NHL player and it has no desire for its captain to be the guinea pig. Certainly, the Sabres are not alone in that anti-surgery stance, which cuts down the trade partners before even getting to salary, fit and talent. But Eichel’s camp is convinced he’ll be fine just two months after the surgery.

From everything I read about artificial disc replacement surgery is that it's a rather effective surgery. The recovery time is shorter and has less complications. They just don't know the long term prognosis from it.

Don't know how much you read is true but it sounds like most teams agree with the Sabres about not allowing the surgery....still think it's a smoke screen on Eichel's part to get traded, only way I don't believe that is if he is traded and has the surgery.
