So, where do you use the extra 5M? Well, two potential spots.

Does management think Robertson is ready? I think he can be with a good training off-season. If not, you can dedicate cap space to an FA like a Tatar, or a Granlund to fill that spot.

The more likely area I would suggest is Mikheyev. I actually don't mind the idea of Mikheyev getting a shot with Tavares and Nylander, to see what he can do in a more offensive spot. However, I don't think we are at the point where we can really afford to do that unfortunately.

I think a package of Mikheyev (roster player), Dermott (young roster player) and Amirov/1st 22 (1st rounder) and probably another prospect could get you a strong upgrade at 2RW with that extra 5M. (plus Mikheyev 1.6 and Dermott ~1M, means you could target a player making 7M or so)

That is the area and type of package I'd be looking to make.

You utilize both internal promotion, AND free agency. I think that third line is a whole lot better than what we had, I think Robertson adds a spark to the top 6, and a guy like Konecny would as well if we could swing a deal for him as rumored.
