At $8.25mil he sucks but at $4.125 thats a pretty good contract. Arizona would never retain that much for that long tho thats over $20m theyd be paying him.

Blues decline, and I doubt that is what it would take anyways. Calgary would want young guys if they trade Tkachuk. It would likely be, Dunn, 2021 1st, and either Thomas or Kyrou.

It would be a great deal at that price but long term retention (especially at that much) is just not at all realistic. For example look how badly the Kessel retention is effecting Toronto now and thats only 1.2M

No it would be Kyrou and Thomas as the base, no interest in Dunn

I disagree about Dunn, Giordano has a good chance of going to Seattle. Then on the left side it is Hanifin and question marks.

They wouldn't. Calgary fans are ridiculous with what they want for Tkachuk. If the rumors are true about Tkachuk wanting out, then expect for him to hold out for a shorter contract and leave for free agency.

Actually next summer he is an RFA. He can take a one year qualifying offer at I believe 9m and be a UFA in summer of 2023. I believe he wants out (maybe not now) but Tkachuk probably feels seven years of service with the middling Flames is enough. And it's just not him, other RFAs on other teams undoubtedly feel the same way.

yes Tkachuk has more value than OReilly, however the Blues are still in a win now mindset and trading ROR does nothing for them
