Quoting: PLDGEY
My concern is the last bit of that sentence. Why are we giving up a high 2nd and a depth pick for someone who were not planning on being an impactful piece and who isn't in the long term plans?
Id rather just take the chance at drafting another Pinto with that high 2nd, let 2021/2022 roll.
At some point we need to invest in the current team so we don’t develop a losing culture like Buffalo or Edmonton. I think we have a very promising current prospect pool (obviously everyone that’s graduated is good, and then we still have guys like Formenton/Pinto/Jarventie/Greig/Crookshank/Sokolov/JBD/Sanderson/Thomson/Kleven developing, all of whom look pretty good). We could use maybe 1 more high end forward piece, which we should be able to get at 10oa, and then we have 38oa to add likely another good young forward to supplement that pool. I think 41 is expendable at this point, we shouldn’t be trading 1sts, but dealing our 3rd highest pick for a top 6 centre to show the team that management believes in them would be a worthwhile investment, and potentially push for a playoff spot. It also allows us to not rush Pinto, he can sit comfortably in the 3C spot and get his footing there.
