You have to give up the best assets in a cap dump hence the reason it's called a "dump"! Plus Drouin and Kane are not that far apart in skill but as I stated above I really don't care much about swapping Drouin for Kane so if you want we can just make it Vlasic + 1st + Merkely for Byron and call it a day.
If my GM gives up a 7th OA pick (extremely valuable) and a top line power forward on a SWEETHEART deal at 3.5 x4 years just get rid of a contract, not only I'd demand his head but I'd go get his head myself.
"Plus Drouin and Kane are not that far apart in skill" doesn't mean much. No GM in their right mind would make that swap, even if Kane had zero retention.
Paul Byron was on waivers with no takers and has 2 more years at 3.4
Drouin has 2 more years at 5.5 and is most likely seen as a cap dump too right now considering the economic/cap current context
Vlasic + Merkley for Byron and Drouin would be kinda fair for the first 2 years
So to "get rid" of Vlasic last 3 years at 7.0, the Sharks would sacrifice a 7th OA pick (their highest since 2003) and give up Evander Kane at 50% retention?
They better hang on to him and buy him out. They need to rebuild anyway. A team in their situation would NEVER sacrifice such a high pick to get rid of a cap dump.
You can believe you what you want. I am telling you this is 0% realistic.
