Carolina don't need a 36 year old goaltender. Nedeljkovic was nothing short of incredible and Fleury is a cap dump in waiting.

and Carolina is getting him 50% retained, not giving up a 1st, giving up an RFA who wants out, a college player who is rumored to refuse to sign in carolina and a 2nd.

He didn't deserve the Vezina

He was awful the past 3 years before this, this is the upside, not the median. He's a cap dump who had a good year.

Still do not need a 36 year old goaltender when we have one of the best wingers in the NHL to re-sign, replace the best defenseman in the NHL when he's using his head (fight me) and still fill out the rest of the team.

3 years ago he had a .927 svp, 2 years ago he had a .913 svp, last year he was bad, and this year he had a .928 svp, what are you talking about?

which is why you aren't paying him 7 million a year, you are paying him 3.5 million a year. also, hamilton has been given freedom to seek deals elsewhere, what does that tell you? and

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL "best defensemen in the NHL" LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL.

Also, Svechnikov one of the best wingers in the NHL? Hes quite a nice player, but come on man.

I sometimes forget how silly it is to try and converse with you.

He had a .913 and got replaced because he wasn't good enough. He's been bad.

Hamilton is the best D man in hockey when his head is on straight. He's genuinely unmatchable.

Furthermore, the cap hit isn't the issue, it's the variying performances. Why move for Fleury (who's likely going to back up Nedeljkovic who was the league leader in GAA and Sv% for goalies with 20+ games) when you can sign someone like Rittich for 2 mill less?

Yeah he has. He was bad in 2018-19, bad in 2019-20 and this season didn't start until 2021. So in 2018, 2019 and 2020, he was bad.

For starters, Ned. has played 29 career games in 7 seasons since he was drafted. If you honestly think he will simply continue to have .932% svp for the rest of his career, I don't know what to tell you. Carolina should be trying to compete for the cup. Having a legit goalie tandem (and not paying an arm and a leg for it) would help massively. You also are not giving up much for the right to pay fleury 3.5 million.

Also, again with Hamilton, LOL. But way to use a completely unmeasurable way to say hes the best "when his heads on right"...i guess we should pause the game when his head "isnt on right?"

Goaltenders are known to take longer to develop properly. Goalies rushed into the league (Hart) don't usually hold up to well. They need time to properly get up to speed. I'm not saying he'll be .932 his entire career, but Fleury won't be anywhere near like he was this year for the rest of his career either. Nedeljkovic's upside is far better than that of the aging Fleury. Especially because Carolina could get a cheaper goaltender, perhaps a Bernier or a Halak, and run with a genuine tandem without moving assets. It makes no sense to move this much for someone who will be a backup. There's far other holes in the roster.

You want measurables? Look up Dougie's analytics. No one in the NHL outside of him comes close to being as complete as he is. He has his moments which is when I say "when his head is on right"

Too much for a 36 year old goalie who is a rental.

While I wouldn’t be opposed to MAF as Ned insurance, old goalies don’t have the best track records. Not much interest at that price.

Thats not how seasons work.

2017-18: .927 SVP
2018-19: .913 SVP (played 61 games and every playoff game, what do you mean he was replaced)
2019-20: .905 SVP (played 49 of 71 games, Vegas rode the hot goalie, i seem to remember carolina doing this in their cup year)
2020-21: .928 SVP (played 36 of 56 games and 16 playoff games)

Bernier will be getting a raise off his contract, not sure who these good goalies are that will be significantly cheaper than 3.5 million. Also its a tandem. Both will play alot.

Again, you're sighting season stats, I said past 3 years so "tHaT's NoT hOw It WoRkS"

He was replaced with Lehner, remember? He was so bad that they had to bring in someone else. His stats got better as the backup, he was .899 at the time of the trade.

Nope, Fleury is literally not good outside of the 1 year he plays Anaheim San Jose and Arizona a combined 24 times.

Even though I like Victor Olofsson, I’m a fan!! And he’s on a good contract, I don’t think he solves any problems for the Pens. Pens need more physical and physically imposing wings. To go along with Guentzel, Rust, McCann, and Kappy.

Guentzel/Sid/Rust
McCann/Geno/Kappy
????????/J.Carter/?????
ZAR/Blueger/Tanev.

Most likely Seattle takes Zucker. Pens re-sign Gaudreau for 900k-1.25M for 2 seasons as depth. And they already have Lafferty, Angello, Zohorna, OConnor, as NHL level depth.

The 3rd line LW could be Poulin if he’s ready. He’s big enough, 6’3, 215 pounds. I just don’t know if his 200 foot game is good enough yet. He might need a season in the AHL to work on his defensive, 200 foot game.

But it looks like the Pens need physical 3rd line wings. A 3rd pairing RHD, and probably a vet back-up 1B goalie.

I don’t think V.Olofssson solves that.
