so we give you the better piece in neal AND still have to give up jones and a pick for it? If you want major cap relief you have to give up quite a bit edmonton's way especially with a flat cap. no way you get 3.83mil off your books and get assets for it too

Why does NYI do this trade? A starting goalie who has been to the Conf Finals two years in a row for an AHL goalie, a fringe 4th liner and a 3rd.

Lmao whatttt. Neither of the players are very good anymore but Keith is certainly the better player. He still plays over 22 mins per game whereas Neal is a healthy scratch half the time.

Also where are your numbers coming from?? Where is Chicago getting 3.83m in cap space in this trade? They're actually taking on more cap.

Also, Varlamov is a domestic abuser. No.

NYI needs to clear cap space and Sorokin is more than capable of taking over the starting role. I think Varlamov is a very logical player to get moved out of there. Goalies typically don't get a big return especially if it's a cap move.

I believe they are assuming Neal get bought out which is a 3.8M savings. Neal is the worse player but his buyout is very friendly compared to most.

Makes sense. I'm not buying him out here though. His buyout is decent but still holes 1.9mil for 4yrs if he's bought out this offseason. Not ideal.

    Keith + Strome
    For
Neal (2 mill retained) + Jones + pick

Hawks get 4+ million in cap relief.
Oilers get a good LHD with experience that can still play limited minutes + someone who's played well with McDavid.
