What's funny is that as a NSH fan, this is the easiest one to say no to.

Youre not getting a 20 yo C with tremendous potential for a 30 yo dmen whos gonna be overpaid in the last 2 years of his deal.

I mean I really like Forsberg and think canes should kick tires on him if Preds are willing to move him but that’s an over pay. Canes can get Garland and Reinhart for what they’re getting Forsberg for in your scenario. Just don’t see it all going down that way.

I don't want two cap dumps and a former high pick who hasn't accomplished anything in his first three seasons, for NSH's best contract.

Hasn't accomplished anything?! I guess being the 3rd highest scorer in the playoffs before age 21 is nothing. Only Crosby and Gretzky have more playoff goals before age 21.

My bad I misunderstood the tweet from the hockey news. It said KK needs 1 more goal to pass Crosby and Gretzky so naturally I assumed they were the leaders.

    https://mobile.twitter.com/TheHockeyNews/status/1400240141701091331

Even still he is 4th most among Centers see link

That still doesn't seem to be quite accurate.

Regardless, it feels like cherry-picking very niche stats to me. Kotkaniemi is still young and there's plenty of time for him to figure it out, but one decent playoff run isn't enough to convince me he'll be a superstar.

It's 2 very decent playoff runs but I get what you are saying. Also in all fairness to the players he is chasing not sure how many of them were in the NHL at 18 or played in 2 playoffs in their first 3 years. It is also misleading cause the last 2 playoffs have been nothing like a normal playoff year. My only issue is with saying a kid who has barely scratched the surface of what he will become is a bust or hasn't done squat. Sure maybe he didn't ho out and put up 30+ goals and 90 points in his rookie year or something ridiculous like that but he has yet to play with the teams best forwards 3 years into his career. I like Lehky, Byron, Armia and Anderson as much as the next guy but let's face it they are no Gallagher, Toffoli, Caufield, Tatar or Drouin either. Every time KK gets chemistry with players and his line starts to role the wingers were swapped and he had to take the players whe were struggling at the time.
