There is a some good that comes from missing the playoffs. Obviously it sucks to miss the playoffs, but Hintz, Seguin, and I'm sure many more were banged up and they would've faced Carolina and get destroyed. Even if they did beat Carolina they probably wouldn't be able to beat Tampa. They were basically playing like they were in the finals last year. Totally injured with a slight gilmour of hope. Seguin was injured and didn't come back until they were desperate, Radulov played only 11 games, Bishop didn't even play at all, Hintz was injured the whole season yet had a career year, Kiviranta missed more than half the season, only 3 players played all 56 games. The goaltending was an issue. Dobby was inconsistent and Otter had a good rookie season, but could not do anything like what Jordan Binnington in his rookie season could do. It'll be interesting to see what the goaltending duo will look like. Bishop/Otter is probably the duo and Dobby gets traded somehow. Bishop is probably the X-factor. If he's healthy and playing well then the Stars have a good chance.
