Chicago would need to add more to dump Keith's contract and get that much back in return.

I did show that they would need to retain 50% of his remaining contract and a 2nd round pick? Appleton would be lost to Seattle and Beaulieu was a replacement for Keith. Wpg would leave Keith unprotected for the Seattle draft. If unclaimed getting him at 50% salary plus a 1st round is pretty sweet in my eyes. Would be a great influence for the young dmen coming into the fold at Wpg. 3 cup champ experience.

So, you think that giving Appleton, who has more value than Keith, to Chicago and then losing a better player like Stanley to Seattle is a wise move to pick up 2 years of an over the hill 38 year old defenseman for 2 years?

We'd have Appleton, Stanley and Beaulieu going out and replacing them with Keith and a 2nd. That is pretty horrible for the Jets.

I said Keith would be left unprotected. It's a given that Stanley, Pionk and Morrissey are protected.

So, then it would be worse as the Jets would lose a better defenseman than Keith in Demelo as well as Appleton and Beaulieu. Plus Keith would need to agree to waive his NMC which he would have no incentive to do if he wanted to be traded to Winnipeg.

That means the Jets have to protect Keith.
