I'd do that, but Kulikov was a great 2LD this season on EDM + NJ

you're betting on his upside and buying up the rest of his prime years. That won't be cheap. I'd rather not sign him for 2-3 years and have to pay him 7-9 mill until he's 35

Kulikov was most certainly not "great" this season. Think what youre saying he played great this season but will make 2x1.25 just stop with all your kulikov crap.

The "red" on QOT means quality of teammates and despite playing on below average teams, he has put up great results. The regression he's talking about is offensively , he's not going to be in the 80th percentile of driving offense at even strength, but the last two seasons he's been borderline elite defensively which will most likely continue. If he's great defensively and average offensively, that's more than good enough to be 2LD.

Nick Leddy was below average (RED) on even strength offense and defense this season. Yeah ill pass on Leddy as LD2.

1. Idk maybe im crazy but i see 45% at ev offence.
2. Who said anything about leddy. Youre the only one that was talking about leddy.
3. I read and reread his tweet and not one time did i see him say the regression was limited to offence.
4. In terms of bad quality of teammates hes also had bad quality of competition so i dont really see your point, in fact that suits me better (as qot more directly affects offence and qoc more directly affects defence).
5. If hes gonna be " great defensively and average offensively " dont you think he'll get more than 1.25x2??? Now i do believe his next contract will be around 1x1.3 but thats bc hes not this great 2nd pairing dman. Hes a solid 3rd pairing guy and thats how hes getting paid. Interesting isnt it that a guy will get paid according to the value that he brings to the team?
6. Adding on to point 2, i want it to be martinez or mccabe. Those would be my 2 targets for LD2.

1.You do realize it's a 3 year weighted sample. If you look at his 20-21 EV offense, it is around the 80th percentile.
2. Well the team made it to the ECF with Leddy playing at a below replacement level at even strength. Kulikov would be an upgrade which is the point im making
3. Read between the lines. If Kulikov has had a borderline elite defensive impact for the last two seasons, he's clearly talking about his offense being the outlier.

4. QOT affects defenseman a lot more than QOC - and his QOC isn't that low. For example, Noah Dobson would have better underlying numbers playing with Adam Pelech against elite competition than with Brayden Coburn against replacement level 4th liners.

5. No because he doesn't put up points or play on the PP. The contract projections are based on what GMs have paid players in the past, "how much someone is worth" is a different thing, which is why It would be smart for a team to sign Kulikov, he will provide excess value on his contract. A lot of GM's would pay Casey Cizikas twice as much as Derek Ryan, but Derek Ryan was the better player this season. This is why analytics are important so it removes bias.

Right but this is why analytics arent good bc to use your example, cizikas had a bad season and i (and many other people) think he will have positive regression.

analytics aren't good because it doesn't fit your narrative is basally what you're saying lol. Can you explain why they aren't good to use in detail. Tampa Bay is the biggest user of analytics in the league, ignoring them at this point is just straight up ignorant.

It doesn't matter that Cizikas will score a goal or 2 more next season, his offensive play driving has fallen off a cliff and he's not as good defensively. He's still a good 4th line center, but he's worth no more than 1.5-2 mill on a 2 year deal.

Ok. I really hope this doesnt happen but we'll wait and see and if he leaves in fa, halfway through the season youre gonna be crying about how lou and trotz are **** and they shouldve kept him.

see now I know you just came on this thread to argue... are you bored or something? It's like you tried to catch me in a "gotcha' and now you're all upset I knew what I was talking about regarding Kulikov lol

If cizikas wants to stay for 1.5-2 mill x 2, bring him back - but if he wants 2.5-3 mill on a long term deal, f*ck that - it depends who they replace him with if he leaves. If its Riley Nash, Derek Ryan I won't mind. But if they sign a scrub like Travis Zajac then yeah I might have something to say. I wouldn;'t even mind czarnik/koivula battling for the 4c role.
