Holtby for one year while Swayman gets in a full workload in Providence or Swayman splits time with Holtby in Boston. Either way this works out especially if Rask doesn't come back.

OEL for six years at seven million is an unmitigated disaster.

I disagree. You probably thought acquiring Hall was the wrong move. OEL will be revitalized in Boston. And I don't care about the analytics and other garbage metric you might pull out. OEL I think will be the OEL of old in Boston.

I have literally never once referenced analytics on here. I will tell you this about OEL though. He sucks
    He’ll be revitalized?
Oh he will, will he? What makes you sure? Crystal ball? Magic 8 ball?

What if he doesn’t? That’s the difference between Hall and OEL. Grab hall and he doesn’t rebound, whatever. No harm no foul. Onto the next one. If OEL just continues his trend, it’s an absolute disaster, which is why going after OEL is so, so, so incredibly stupid. If it was two years, maybe. Three, that’s a stretch, but if it’s a good price and they retain half, sure. But it’s not. It’s six years of a fringe top four d that’s trending towards barely playable at elite D man money. The hardest of hard passes. If Sweeney even asks to talk about OEL Neely should fire him on the spot.

I would take a chance on OEL. You'll thank the Bruins later.

Kind of funny that you **** on analytics and other garbage metrics, but it was those analytics & metrics that showed Hall was just unlucky in Buffalo and his numbers weren't indicative of his play.

No, I’ll be pissed that they get one year of a third pair d man at 7 mill, and then 10 years of a buyout. It’s just such an utterly stupid idea. Maybe if you can go through any other team and get him retained 50% twice. Just sign mike reilly for 2.5 mill. He’s probably a better player anyhow.

If I'm an NHL GM the conversation starts at OEL 50% retained. I was worried last year when Edmonton was kicking tires but thank god he wasn't interested in waiving his NMC to come here. Now that Nurse took a step forward and needs a new contract I have to think Edmonton is out on him. That OEL contract is horrible and I really can't see the Bruins (or any other team for that matter) taking on a contract with 6 years to run and hoping for a bounce back.

Ya that’s the thing, i think the conversations will be very cyclical.
Teams will tell the coyotes that they have zero interest in OEL with anything less than 50% retention.
Coyotes will tell teams they don’t want to eat money for six years.
OEL will retire a coyote because his contact is an abomination.

That's exactly how I see it playing out as well. Coyotes are a struggling franchise to begin with and to pay $4mil for a guy not on your team for 6 years hits them harder than most. On top of that they have next to no assets to sweeten the deal and that contract would require a monstrous amount going the other way but even rebuilding teams plan on being competitive in less than 6 years and don't want that hindering them when their ELCs are up.

Seattle is the only hope i see for them. Give them a couple first rounders to take him. Seattle has no cap commitments. I guess there could be something there.

Arizona is in that ugly middle where they're not a playoff team and not a lottery team. They lost their first pick this year for their past drafting shenanigans, they can't really afford to give away firsts. They need some potential players to retool that roster. Chychrun is likely the only untouchable but other than him, Garland is probably the only guy that fetches a 1st in a trade.

You probably wanted no part of Hall. Analytics are for loser GM’s like Dubas. OEL was once a top pairing dman. He’s 30. You don’t magically fall off a cliff at 30. Put him on a team like the Bruins and you’ll thank Sweeney later,

You know the Bruins have an entire analytical department, right? So does just about every team in the NHL lol. So if analytics are garbage why do teams invest time and resources into them?
