So... yet another made up team where the center position is neglected and not addressed.

are we including a Rielly trade in all our AGM's now? I must have missed the memo. He'd be dangerous on our team, but I don't know that the Leafs FO undervalues him the way the internet does. And we are still v weak down the middle. Give Shesterkin less money and keep Strome imo. That should be a wildcard team

Drafting 3 high potential C is called addressing the position. Or of course we could sell the farm for a chance to win the next 2-3 years and if we fail… not a wise decision... Those picks might make it pointless to resign Zibby. Or they may all flop which I highly doubt.. we lack faceoff win % yet we are offensively and defensively dominant and only improving. Don’t need to focus so much on winning 3-6 more face offs per game by signing ufas and trading away future. Seems like a reactionary decision, rather, it is.

I agree that the TOR FO values him more than the internet fan base. However the fans have posted so many trades with him involved and the talks of which of the few players TOR will more to make changes, leads me to believe he might actually be moved with Sandin taking over PP1. This move let’s them sign Hamilton also. Or maybe depth forwards. As for shesty, 4.5M with that term seems good for both sides. He is good, and as long as he doesn’t have the bad start he did last season he will be opening eyes across the league.

I get that some people dont believe in faceoffs, however you got a first hand look at what not winning faceoffs did to us last year. Its about special teams, its about winning a faceoff on the PP to gain more opportunities. Its about winning faceoffs on the PK and not allowing teams to gain zone control and score on us.

You say winning 3-6 faceoffs isnt a big deal. But lets say winning on average 4-5 more faceoffs a game prevents 10 goals and gives us 10 more goals for the season. Thats a big deal.

Oh I don’t disagree but it’s about going for the cup in 2 years, 3,4,5,6,7… not just mortgaging for a really good shot this year and next. But drafting those guys is better than trading for them. It’s a long term plan more so. You’ve seen what we will lose for Eichel. Johnson just might be better than Strome at face offs, Svechkov just might be better than Chytil. Not to mention Raty. We can become better from within as well as signing or trading for the newest hottest face off guys and overpaying.

I see where you're going. I don't necessarily think it's a good idea to throw a kid right into the NHL unless it's absolutely obvious that they belong there, like McDavid. I don't think it makes the team that much better than simply hiring even just a marginal 3C, and letting the kid have something to work for. This is riskier than standing pat , in my opinion. And the upside isn't super clear either. Rielly, I would want for sure if he were available cheap, I but we have an embarrassment of riches in D prospects. Jones, Scheider, Lundkvist are all top 4 material. So it's probably not necessary to get him in the long run.

    I like stacking 1st's though!

Personally, I want nothing to do with Eichel. However I also have zero faith in Chytil shaping up into a legitimate center, hes got talent, but not as a center. I also believe that if were to resign Zib, Fox and Kakko, we cant afford to retain Buchnevich. My ideal move would be for Hertl, plan B would be Dvorak. I get the thinking 3, 4+ years ahead, but we need to take advantage of Zib and Panarin in their primes as well as look towards the future.
