So that probably mean Zegras, Drysdale and 3OA are off the table

Ducks probably go after Reinhart over Eichel if you tie this into the Ducks wanting Reinhart

Using Rakells deal (that expires this season) as the baseline for a Comtois Extension

Rakell came off a 20 goal season, Rakell also had a world junior Gold and Silver Medal at this time, They are actually very similar in-terms of resume at this time. Both player also had very high shooting percentages (prone to natural regression)

Comtois before first new contract 94 23 28 51 (Games, Goals, Assists, Points)
Rakell before first new contract 165 29 49 78 (Games, Goals, Assists, Points)

      Rakell ppg = 0.47
Comtois = 0.54 (Much smaller sample size)

Rakell signed for 6 years 3.8M AAV (For sake of ease) 5.21% of the cap space at the time
5.21% of the current salary cap = 4,246,150

I dont see how Comtois would get a penny over 4.5M on a 6 year deal, even less on a 5

Usually with Dreger I go with the exact opposite of what he says. And 99 times out of 100 it is right. So with his comment do I go with there has been no discussions between the ducks and sabres? Or is it that Anaheim's interest is extremely high.... hmmm

He's still one of the most well-connected insiders there is, even if his accuracy has dropped lately, looking at the current states of the Ducks its pretty easy to see they wouldn't want to sell the farm for one player, even if it is Eichel, from the start of this Reinhart has made more sense for the Ducks

He is connected because he leaks what nhl personnel want him to. Be it front office folks or agents

Yeah, as long as you can get him to extend it definitely makes sense from the Ducks side. I'd assume Buffalo would want a higher pick/prospect, in which case I wouldn't do it.

The more I think about Eichel, the less sense it ever made. IMO, the only reason why the Ducks were really being reported as being in on him was because of the cap space/picks/prospects that we have. If you're the 2nd worst team in the league, selling the farm would have been pure stupidity.

tears of joy I kinda miss when people used to refer to his twitter account as "Paul Marner's burner account" during the Marner negotiations in Toronto.

Nobody on this website knows anything about how/why insiders are connected, reality is he is one of the most trusted names out there, even if his quality has declined hes still a top 5 insider

Eichel to the Ducks was only a thing because we have the prospects to get him, the cap to fit him, and the hole at centre for him

Nobody cares to look at the current state/construction of the Ducks and see that its a horrible trade fit

No, everyone knows why he's connected. It's because he says what people want him to say in exchange for access

Ah yes I forgot you have extensive knowledge about the relationships of someone who is a complete stranger to you with more people who you dont know, my bad. I forgot you personally know why one of the most trusted insiders is connected, definitely isnt because he's reliable and has built a network of connections over a very successful career.

The Ducks are historically are very close to the vest on any deal. BM has a history of not showing his hand at all. But if reports are accurate on what Buffalo wants, (equal of 4 firsts) no team will want to pay that. And rightfully so as well. Makes no sense for that for the ducks. I love Eichel, and I would love Eichel. but at this point, I would go after Dubois. Have Zegras and Dubois be the core as #1 and #2 centers. Both really young and he would cost less in terms of money and comp compared to Eichel.

Yes. He has access and connections because he says out loud what they want him to, and give him access to donso. It is widely known
