I don't think its a sure thing Varlamov stays with the isles. They need to sign their 3 RFAs

I agree but if leddy and eberle go thats 11 million off the books and i think it will be those 2 and not varlamov.

I don't think we'd get a 1st, but we should get more than just a 2022 2nd.

Varlamov is far easier to move than Eberle and Leddy and we have a stud goalie ready to be our starter. I'm not saying I don't want Varlamov back, but realistically it makes sense to move him.

I think being a healthy scratch throughout the playoffs will affect how much he gets , although he is definitely a 1st line talent. Maybe add an extra year and he takes it.

Edmonton would have an interest in Leddy tbh: everything is currently pointing at the Oilers protecting Jones as its becoming increasingly more likely that Klefbom won't play again at the NHL level. Granted, with Broberg, Jones, and Samorukov all matriculating, the Oilers really only need a short-term solution to manage their blueline moving forward. Thus, I pose the question:

What does a Leddy+Varlamov deal to Edmonton look like?

I'm immediately on board with the 2022 1st - I think Edmonton potentially landing Cossa makes the 2021 pick a bit too much to give up - but I'm not sure what else to add to the trade. I'd prefer all of Edmonton's big prospects (Broberg, Holloway, Lavoie) be kept out of the deal but I'm open to names like Benson, Marody, Savoie, etc. More middle-end pieces accompanying the first if possible. Ultimately if one of those big three need to be included then Lavoie is probably the piece I'm most comfortable trading.

A varly+leddy for the 22 1st+any of benson/marody/savoie works for me. Tbh im scared of picking 19, almost as scared as i am of picking 5. Idk y it just makes me scared of a bust (but its only those 2 numbers not any other busts weve had so im not sure).

Leddy and Varlamov for McLeod, Stalock, and a 2022 1st?

Lol it's cause we picked Bellows at 19. Who I think can be an NHLer, but needs to be given an opportunity he won't get with NYI.

No i know its bc we picked bellows at 19 but no other pick that was a bust. Im not sure why its only 19 and 5 and not say 4 for griffin reinhart or 28 for ho sang or o'marra or nilsson at 15 or nokelainen at 16 or bergenheim at 22.
