Description
IDK, trying to make the team a little tougher. 1 or 2 year deals as we can't afford to pay more. In Hymans case i don't think you want to sign him for longer. They way he plays takes a toll on the body. Chirp in if you'd like.

I would think the Leafs would part ways with Simmonds.

toughness is so far down on the list of things the leafs need, i cant even begin to wonder why people are going out of their ways.
Also Domi isnt tough, he's a rat

I will take "tough to play against" over "toughness" every day of the week.

Simmonds is pretty useless 5v5. I have very little interest in Domi.

PLease see what makes it on in playoffs. Toughness doesn;t mean fighting.
I am not a fan of Domi but in TO he would be good, as a Rat is kind of what they need.

I never said toughness ment fighting, domi just isnt a tough player. He's a pest like marchand who more often runs dudes then runs away.
He just isnt near as good a hockey player.

You said they don't need toughness, or a rat style player so I am wondering what you would think the Leafs need?

they dont need either, im not opposed to adding either, but what they currently need is a pair of guys who can play top 6 wing spots. Good players who can shoot kinda thing. Say a Jayden Schwartz or a Brandon Saad type. Domi hasnt been that guy for a couple years and currently wont be playing in NHL games until the next season is half over.

ya I am not on the Domi Train either. A top 6 would be nice, Robertson should be full time next year as well. BUt more imporatntly, they need some big mean D-man. If that meansd Rielly goes via trade and Sandin steps in as a PP guy, we could then afford some actual D- man that are just straight shut down simple players.
    Mtl - Weber, Chariot, Edmundson,
Tampa - Hedman, Mcdonaugh, Cernak, Ruuta
NYI - Pelech, Mayfield, Pulock, Dobson
Vegas - Petro, Martinez, Theodroe, McNabb

the leafs really dont need another defender, their defence was better than fine and they solved the main issue with Brodie.
Montreal's defence has been good for two reasons, the system of just collapsing allows their slower guys to not get caught out of possition and be exposed for just not being very good and having Cary Price be in god mode. You could not pay me to bring in a guy like any of the three guys you mentioned, they are all terrible and would be exposed horribly in the leafs system.
Tampa's guys are just really good on top of being big and the islanders are basically just a more skilled version of the Habs method with worse goaltending (Pelech and Pulock are just incredibly smart defensive players) and Vegas has two Norris calibre guys in Petro and theodore (Martinez is a product of Theo and McNabb is just along for the ride).
The Leafs should 100% target two big guys on the market right now, but that's more so because they are very good (that's 6'5 dougie hamilton and 6'2 McCabe).

If you want to add someone to the leafs defence they have to be reasonably mobile and able to move the puck up the ice, big and mean would be a bonus, but it has to be a plus to who you add and not something you specifically target.

Hamilton will be a more expensive Reilly - No Thanks
    McCabe - Yes Please

But this Mobile move the the puck thing really is not working for them when it matters. Great in the Regular season, but we can all see it's takes two different styles of hockey to win in the Playoffs.
I would take an one of those 3 guys form MTL. Not at the Weber $$ though.

Hamilton is one of the best 2 way defenders in the league hes better than rielly at everything, and is an elite shot and chance suppression guy.
The leafs had a guy like the montreal in bogo and hes much cheaper

Bogo is not even close to the level of Weber or Chariot.

disagree on Hamilton. Look at the Hockey analyst Team Canada Teams. Reilly is on them alot more than Hamilton.
It would be another over paid Leafs player

Bogo is 100% on the level of weber and chariot, they are both awful and slow and way way over played and paid.
As far as people putting Rielly on team canada over Hamilton, well, those guys are idiots. Hamilton is a no brainer easy pick for team canada. People who pick him probably have guys like doughty on there too.

So the two guys that play 30 mins a night and are in the cup finals Suck? doesn't make sense does it?
and all the idot anyalst don;t know what they are talking about ? They only are around the game every day, and most of them having played in the NHL or a high level of hockey.
I'm a Leafs fan, But you are one of those VERY blinded Leafs fans that think their teams Players are better than all the others.

yes, because ice time is a terrible indication of how good a defender is. Especially when the only reason they are in the cup finals is because they have cary price going full on con smythe behind them.
and yes, people who work for networks and make these fake olympic rosters are often very out of touch with who is actually really good and make dumb lists with bad players on them all the time.
And what are you talking about? You're the one who is saying the leafs player is better than another player because some dudes on tv told you so.
