Not really.

The pens organization wants to sign a vet backup-1B goalie. I don’t think the Pens are gonna do better on the FA market or in a trade than DeSmith though. Especially for the price.

But the organization seems set of signing/trading for a vet backup goalie to go along with Jarry.

Who knows, the Isles series might have gone differently if DeSmith was healthy and gave Jarry a rest and a night off. Or he got hot and took over as the starter.

DeSmith has definitely proven he belongs and is a quality, NHL back-up-1B goalie.

I’m in Favor of running with Jarry/DeSmith again and spending the cap space on skaters; unless MAF can get to PGH on a 3.5M-4.5M contract.

DeSmith better than M.Smith. Better than James Reimer, better than P.Mrazek. Better than Freddy Anderson. Again, especially for the price.

Who else, maybe J.Bernier, C.Driedger and L.Ullmark are better goalies.

But besides Bernier, Pens organization want a vet, with play-off experience. That rules out Driedger and Ullmark.

Maybe DeSmith to Toronto for T.Niemela or W.Villeneuve.

Pens could use a RHD prospect. They traded them all away except for Maniscalco.

Or DeSmith and a 5th for J.Holl. Pens let Ceci walk and J.Holl becomes their 3rd pairing RHD.

Mrazek is much better than Desmith but agree on other goalies. Honestly Mrazek could be a good short term stop gap for you guys. I’d love Jarry and have Mrazek as 1A in that situation.

In a single season getting strictly 4th line minutes, Hagel is 6 pts away from outproducing Zucker during his entire tenure with the Pens....

Murphy, Regula, plus a high 2nd is far too much for McCann

Zucker is a legit top 6.

He wasn’t healthy and He didn’t get time to have chemistry with any Pens line.

And still had 12 points in 15 games last season(6 goals) and 18 points(9 goals) in 38 games this season( Still .5 PPG) while not being healthy and he didn’tget hot and bring his stat averages up to normal career averages.

So Zucker still had 32 points in 53 games as a Pen. Still .6 PPG. Not what the Pens expected from him, but still top 6 numbers. And again, he was never fully healthy.

You can’t compare “total points” my man. How is it fair to compare total points for players that havnt played the same number of games?? U have to compare PPG. And that shows Zucker’s superiority to Hagel.
