- Liljegren and Dermott are somehow traded for assets between now and then.
- Campbell turns out to be a legit starter, on a team-friendly contract, and the Leafs get lucky with Akhtiamov.
- Connor Brown comes back home in 2023.
- The Leafs manage a big UFA signing on D, e.g. Parayko.
- Niemela and Hirvonen are the rising stars in 23-24.
- This is the last year before Matthews walks away for a California team.
