Consolidating roster spots as Drury has said his the most important thing next season is every player to know their role and be tougher to play against.
Martinook looks to be out of Carolina and plenty of teams will be lining up to sign like players to him, Goodrow, Coleman, and Cizikas will all want more ice time with the $ and Rangers won't be able to offer. Martinook takes $ and longer term even with a 4th line role.
Add to the middle 6 for a cost controlled C who can play 2 way. Arizona in need of youth and picks, Strome just to offset cash and a potential flip for AZ. Tarmo and Libor both chance to be top 6 D man and young, could use the ice time to develop into something. Not sure the value of Dvorak, if not equal in eyes of AZ, rotate some of the other Rangers prospects in (ie Robertson, Howden, or Zac Jones if other pieces are added on both sides.
VGK trade is for depth and potentially not an interest for VGK. Thought was Smith could fill this role for cheaper but McNabb is a little more valuable. McNabb to rotate in for Zac Jones here and there and if the Rangers make playoffs I expect he would play next to Nils with Zac in press box (similar with what Isles did with Wahlstrom).
Rooney/Blackwell could be moved, Blackwell I think slots into that 3rd line RW if Kravtsov is moved. If not, similar to McNabb they rotate in with Kravtsov or on the 4th line for each other.
Expect this year to be a showcase for Kravtsov, Kakko, Nils, and Jones for potential trades next season, with Kravtsov and Jones being traded for a big upgrade elsewhere.
Toronto trade not much thought went into, the idea there was trading Georgie to a team who needs a goalie and don't care much for the return. 2nd-4th round depending on retaining salary.
With added cap space Rangers sign Fox long term with him most likely taking a discount to stay for the team he wanted to play for. Somewhere in the 6x6 region. Zibanejad resigned for 8x6 unless another C opens on trade market next summer.
Assuming we are drafting Raty or Svechkov to play C and keeping Chytil as a cheap 2C/3C option for future.. do you want Dvorak over Zibby for 1C?
We wouldn’t be drafting them because that pick would be going to AZ. Chytil and Dvorak would be the middle 6, placement depending on chemistry, for the next 3-4 years.
Even with the alternatives in the description? Mentioned that if Dvorak is valued higher, Rangers would add Robertson and/or Zac Jones.
I think it’d come down to what they want to do. If it was to get better to compete they wouldn’t do it, but they kind of look like they’re stuck between a rebuild and being decent.

Rangers can’t keep getting younger.
So you think we can keep Zibby, Dvorak, Chytil and resign all the youth?
Zibby-7M
Fox-6M
Kravs and Kakko will get 2-4M depending on their seasons
Followed by Laf and Miller the year after which we won’t be able to afford thanks to martinook and Dvorak. This is why we need that 15OA pick for a high end C on a ELC for the next 3 years till we can move either Kreider or Trouba

Always the question, Dvorak could be in their long term plans and they are going to go for it, hard to tell.
I would imagine that if AZ was deciding to rebuild a bit, an offer of Strome, some combination of Jones/Robertson/Tarmo/Hajek, and a 1st would be appealing. You’re probably right though, it may have to be Jones instead of Tarmo for them to even consider.

From what I’ve seen, Dvorak is pretty damn good, but on a team that is struggling they might wanna keep all the talent they can.

Yes, because the contracts will be staggered, Dvorak would be a UFA before all of Chytil, Kakko, Nils, (maybe Laf) really cash in. Chytil, Kakko, and Nils are at least 3 years from making any serious kind of $. And for arguments sake, let’s say Chytil signs a 2 year bridge and breaks out, Kakko explodes next season and gets a big deal, you’d have 2 years of Dvorak and then could move him relatively easily if strapped for cash, even with cap probably going up then.
Kreider most likely to be moved when his NMC becomes a NTC in a few years.

Tbh haven’t seen him a ton, just know he fits the “mold” of what I think this team needs. Defensively gifted. 2C, who is entering their prime at a good cap with playoff experience.
Denault as a UFA would also be a fit but expect him to get a healthy contract with this run.

Yeah for sure. He’d be a great target. I think Danault will resign after this run, so Dvorak would be a better option. Plus he’s young enough to keep growing with our core.

Yep, and we have a deep D prospect pool, have to move on from some of them at some point so might as well do it while you can maximize all the ELCs.
I mean impossible to tell, half of them have played less than 10 NHL Games. Laf has 2 years to bump up his contract, Kakko’s contract will very much depend on how his next season goes, if he has another subpar year he will be signing a pretty reasonable bridge deal.

I anticipate Kravs getting 2M, Kakko getting 3M, Laf 4M+ being on that top line now, Miller 3-4M. Also these bridges will be 3 years maximum

Could be! They probably will want to lock Laf up longer term if he shows he can be a legit #1 and that could drive his price up over 5,6,7 mil.
Kravtsov and Kakko have very little leverage right now a year away from RFA. Nils is 3 years away and this could a very different roster by then and we have no idea what kind of player he will be. Jones I don’t expect to be making much or even be on the team in 2 years.

Well a low OS is leverage to get more or leave for some of these guys. That’s a risk by not having more salary cap to spend
