wow they won some rounds a year ago and now finished last in the North to Ottawa? Man have the tides turned. T

Good thing Benning noticed that change and fixed it, back to being a Lottery team where they belong

Lottery team for life should be there new motto lul.

Can see it now his first order of business trade Brock Boeser for 4th liners and tell the Sedins to endorse it

Why would Buffalo want even more defenseman back in return for Jack Eichel? They already have too many left-handed defenders as it is. They need forwards and forward prospects, not more defenders. They’re already going to be drafting Owen Power who is yet another left-handed defenseman. Even if they are Vegas’s best prospects (and they’re not) unless buffalo turns around and flips them for the forwards they want the deal doesn’t do any favors for Buffalo.

Rielly Smith is all well and good except he has a one-year contract and probably no intention of re-signing in Buffalo. The trade doesn’t happen without Alex Tuch and Krebs or Glass. The late first round pick is more of a throw in than a corner stone asset.

Power is going back to College he already said so

Hague can play top 4 until Power comes then they can Hague and get more value or Dahlin if they feel there isnt a fit

for 2021 they can use

Dahlin-Jokiharju
Hague-Miller
Holden-guy

with this trade buffalo gets with the addition of Morozov

2 A prospects
A center prospect with enormous potential (I see Mittlestat 2.0 but the good kind the 2020-2021 kind)
A depth Dman
A Top 4 Dman
Usable Forward
A 1st and 3rd

Shipachyov is one of the best KHL players year after year, look how that turned out. The KHL is very different from the north american game, and that doesn’t always translate. Morozov had a breakout season for sure, but that doesn’t automatically jump him over guys like dugan or elvenes, who have been successful and produced at every level, including the AHL, or cormier, whose upside is very high and offensive production in the Q is absurd. One pretty good khl season isn’t enough to proclaim he’s their 2nd best prospect all of a sudden. Comparing him to kaprizov is so far from accurate that I’m inclined to dismiss it completely. Morozov plays a different style of game (better defensively), and doesn’t have anywhere close to kaprizov’s levels of production (this is morozov’s draft+3 year, kaprizov put up similar numbers in his draft+1 year).

You must not be familiar with the prospects that Buffalo has already in the system. Bryson played rather well last season, and Samuelsson looked quite good in the limited amount of time he was given. I’m sure Buffalo intends to play both probably quite a bit next season, one of them is likely a top six defenseman all year. Even if Power does go back to Michigan I doubt the Sabres intend to acquire more players that block the younger guys from getting more ice time. That said it’s not guaranteed that Jake McCabe will definitely be gone, I expect his injury may limit his free agency prospects. Especially when you are potentially losing both of your best forwards it’s essential you acquire forwards to replace them. The Sabres are going to need forwards who can play now, not just guys who might make the roster in a year or two.

In general its a gamble. No matter who buffalo takes in exchange for Eichel it could turn out great or blow up in their face. Morozov to me fits the Buffalo system and would be a nice guy with Glass and Brisson joining the current young guns like Cozens, Quinn, and Mittlestat to build around

Rebuild will be slow but could be worth while.

but considering their trade history with other big names I would not be surprised if they get less for Eichel than people are expecting

fixed it

Took Hague out

and replaced him with another solid forward prospect Dugan pretty good AHL season after College

kept Holden in the deal as Buffalo may need guys to get to the minimal cap limit

So Buffalo now gets

2 A prospects
2 B prospects
A usable 2-way forward
A depth Dman to use as they please (trade him at the deadline for value)
