Description
Most of you know that I have Taylor Hall and RNH in every scenario that I run. My good friends know that I have "Taylor Hall returning to EDM" problem. hahaha.

Anyways, I decided to run a scenario without those guys to see what secondary scoring could look like.

The assumption is that Klefbom is on IR for the year. If he is healthy, Alec Martinez is not required. Martinez is a little older but he's playing really well, and I'm not certain that VGS let's him sign with a division rival.

Schwartz signs a "prove it" deal, a la Tyson Barrie.

Oilers can let Schwartz go the next year, and trade Martinez - to free up cap space to resign Nurse and Seth Jones to $8.5M deals.

I think you are light on the majority of signings

    Saad gets more
Smith is apparently talking 2 years close to 3m aav
Coleman apparently wants to stay in the states
Goodrow and getzlaf stay with their teams for that

So keeping only 9 and tacking on 11 new players out of 20. You better be better lol. I can't see a team like Edm attracting 10 UFAs especially on good deals

If Smiths looking for a 2 yr deal with a 3mil aav he’s completely priced his way out of Edmonton and the league, we’re talking about a guy that’s turning 40 that’s had 1 good season in the last 4, this yr is a completely one off for him, can’t base this yr off of what a full 82 game schedule when we are back to full travel, this yr was a perfect scenario for a old worn out goalie little travel and he only played 2/3 of the yr.

I think smith is out to lunch if that’s his ask but it’s what apparently bob stauffer was pushing

Gee, what's the logic of Jones "forcing a trade." Why do Oilers want this one year rental?

Forget the Phily trade and replace Bouchard with Bear on the Columbus trade. Then don’t sign Larson.

Hi everyone - just wanted to say I appreciate the dialogue and the perspective. Hopefully our team can figure how to add Hamilton or Seth Jones (both would be a coup - but I do agree with the notion that seeing how Bouchard develops - especially on a cheaper contract - and bringing Larsson back who gives us some grit and checking are the more likely plays).

There is something to Blake Coleman being a fit.

I do also think that a guy like Jaden Schwartz could take a one year prove it deal like Barrie. His stock is very low, his injury history is very risky - I don't see him making bank. That said, he already has a Stanley Cup so I'm not sure what his motivation would be. But, he is a Western Canadian kid with 25 goal season on his resume and some good jam to his game.

My hunch on Saad is that he will be this year's Hoffman. Another guy with a Cup. Colorado and other contenders are squeezed on cap. Does he want to play with elite centers in a top 6 role - or does he want to do something else. He's an American born player, so not sure he would want to cross the border. But like Schwartz - Cup and 20 goal scoring resume.

I think most of you are right about Getzlaf. He probably stays in Anaheim. I have met him before. He has a beautiful family, he's the face of the franchise, and he's won it all in Anaheim. Not sure he would uproute the family to chase the Cup - the way Corey Perry did. With the Habs run, Perry is likely improbable as a signing how too. But like the Muller/ Grumpy Old Men Dallas lines in the 90s - it would be great to have some real Cup winning mentors on the team.

Thanks again! Hope our team has a fantastic off season.
