Description
With OEL wanting out again this year it seems. hoping Kotka and our 1st help make up the difference between OEL and weber. Weber also has a high cap hit, but low salary. this is great for a team like the yotes.

Taking on that OEL contract is a massive risk. he fell off hard statistically since he signed. Arizona is gonna have to retain a significant amount of his salary.

This is horrible for MTL. OEL basically have negative value at this point… and youre giving one of our top young players and a first. Oh and youre also trading our captain. Jesus f ing christ

Hard no. I've been harsh on Weber all yesr, deservedly, but he redeemed himself in the playoffs. Adding KK and a 1st to that is insane

Like the others above I don't like this for the Habs look at that center lineup! That is horrible, you are strengthening the LD by weakening down the middle. Top 6 centers are harder to find and we have 2 very good young ones and Danault as a stop gap. We don't needs or want to weaken our center depth.

OEL is just too expensive and, as others have pointed out, he's not likely to waive his NMC. This also opens a hole on RD and leaves the Habs looking for a 2C with size that can score.

I really hope the Habs pick up a PMD in the offseason, but I think there's more reasonable options. Here's a few I'd look at if I were Berge:
Vince Dunn -- reasonably cheap, young, good offensively, questionable defensively
Ryan Graves -- I'd try for Girard first, but Graves is big and good at moving the puck, tho he had some trouble against the Vegas forecheck
Shayne Gostisbehere -- like Dunn, good offensively, questionable defensively and cheap to acquire -- cap hit is rough tho
Alec Martinez -- UFA and had a great year, but not going to be cheap and may not be overly fond of Montreal after the playoffs
Alex Goligoski -- UFA and good puck mover, but will be 36 to start the season and not coming off his best year
Jamie Oleksiak -- UFA, young, big and good, but not really a PMD
Zach Werenski -- far and away the best on the list, but the Habs likely don't have the assets to make a deal & CBJ only moves him if he asks for a trade (and its not like anyone ever wants out of Columbus...)

graves, oleksiak, ghost or dunn would be fantastic for that left side.
