Description
Leafs go 4x4
Lose Kerfoot to Seattle
Foligno feels there is unfinished business returns on 1 year deal
Granlund has been linked to the Leafs for a while
Bunting’s ties to Dubas and Keefe from the Soo could bring him in, could add some nice secondary scoring. He also played really well on ARI PP, net front, had a lot of tips, rebound goals. Something the Leafs have missed since JVR.

Semyonov will most likely start the year with the Leafs, as do all European FA do. Semyonov is responsible defensively and capable of killing penalties. Really good on faceoff’s. He also played with Mikheyev in the KHL.

More than likely they bring back Galchenyuk. And for a guy who has a rocket of a slap shot I hope he gets a look on the 2nd PP.
Liljegren and Sandin will be on this team opening night. Personally I think the Dcore will look significantly different. IMO Rielly will be traded this summer, just have no idea for who so I’m not going to guess. I will say I don’t see Konecny or Dvorak coming here. I really think you could see:
Muzzin Brodie
Sandin Player X
Player X Liljegren
Or
Muzzin Holl
Sandin Brodie
Player X Liljegren

Chris Johnston thinks they go the trade route to bring in a backup goalie. I could see DeSmith (PIT) as an option. Especially if they are looking at Freddy.

Lastly, I really hope more than anything that these two things happen.
First they go back to Matthews Nylander and Tavares Marner. JT had his best season ever when he played a full year with Marner, they really need to go back to that pairing. Matthews can legit play with anyone and I’ve always liked it better when he was with Nylander.

Second is hire Bruce Boudreau to be an assistant coach. Keefe did a great job all year and has but IMO was out coached by both Torts and Ducharme in the playoffs. Adding Bruce would be an awesome addition.

This is boring as hell and if they do make a major change it will come from trading Kerfoot before the draft and Rielly over the summer.

I would want J.Holl or Hallander back for C.DeSmith if it was up to me

They could let Ceci walk and Holl could replace him as the 3rd pairing RHD.

And I love Hallander. He’s gonna be a good piece for a good NHL team.

Like the fact you made a 23 man roster....and even had cap space left over. Like your line suggestion. IMO Marner should play right point on the PP where he did a few years ago and was fabulous.

I really don't care for Foligno, but maybe UFA Barclay Goodrow of Tampa and a GTA boy might find a home as a Leafs for longer term. Gotta think Bunting gets more $$$$.

Good thoughts and analysis on the post.

I would definitely do a trade of Holl for DeSimth. I can’t see Dubas trading back Hallander, I guess it happens (Kapanen) but if one of the younger prospects was involved I’d like to try and make it a larger trade involving McCann.

Pens will tweak a thing or two this offseason depending on the Expansion draft.

The organization has said, add a vet backup. Add size, physicality and defense.

I don’t see them trading a top 6, 25 year old like McCann.

I could see DeSmith being trading though. Even though his contract is great. Even if he ends up being a 3rd goalie. And he’s proven he belongs and is capable NHL back-up, 1B goalie.

Thanks! I believe there will be a lot of teams going after Goodrow. IMO I see NYR going after him hard. But yes, he would fit what this team needs.

The Leafs never got a good look at what Foligno can bring. Guy was injured from day 1. I would prefer a Coleman but so would every other NHL team. But again, my personal belief is Rielly is traded for a top 6 FWD, then no need for Foligno in the top 6.

I don't know if Reily can traded for a top 6 forward especially one with term. But maybe trading him gets 5m cap relief. Can his spot be filled with a 3m Dman, and that gives you another 2m in cap.

Absolutely that works, I honestly don’t know where he could be traded to or for what? Teams that make sense to me are:
VGS: if they lose Martinez
VAN: needs LD
CGY: if the lose Gio
EDM: needs LD

So 4M for Granlund to play the 3rd line...to get you less than 40 points and is soft as they come....Bunting isn't signing for 1M for 2 seasons after the solid season he just had. Gonna cost more to get that. Gonna throw Lilly on the 2nd pair despite not even being able to play a full season. Seems like a smart idea. You somehow made this team softer than it already was, quite an accomplishment.

So lineup changes don’t happen mid game, adjustments don’t happen. He’s been linked to the Leafs for the past two seasons. Absolutely he could be the 3C next year. Hell if I know what he will make, that’s just a guess. It’s better to go higher on here than lower. At least this shows he could fit.

Bunting made 735,000 this year. Absolutely he makes that. He has played 26 career NHL and has a ridiculous shooting %. Over 26 percent. McDavid averages 16%. So yes, he probably only gets about 900,000 on a 1 year deal.

Liljegren is going to be on this team next year. 2nd pair or 3rd pair. Matchups happen, just because he is starting there on this depth chart doesn’t mean he will stay there. You don’t even have him on the roster.

Again stick to the Flyers

You don't pay a 3rd line centre 4M, especially one who cannot play defense and doesn't even provide much offense. What happened to Kadri? Kerfoot is going to be gone most likely this offseason as well because if you are going to pay that for a 3C they better be able to be a specialist in one category and good on defense which Granlund is not.

You signed Bunting to 1M on a 2 year deal. I believe he will make around 1.5 or so. Not much of a difference but 1M on a 2 year deal seems a little low. Let's wait to see.

Lily isn't going to be a regular and play 82 games next season like you think. I don't know why you just like to hand guys who have not proved anything in the league spots but its why you are not involved in hockey in any aspect.

Again, learn something about the sport, gain some knowledge then maybe you can make an intelligent post.
