That’s acceptable if Boston decides to go that route (futures) for Debrusk. 👍🏻

Bruins pay a 2nd for Hall but we pay a 1st for debrusk... Alright and we give up Bear to get rid of Neal contract that we could just buy out? two rookies for our 3 D pair. 2.5mil for mike smith?! I thought i made our worst possible off season but wow here we are with truly the scariest offseason.

Is it though? We have a lot of LHD, but lack a true 1LD (Jones isn't that) and the first probably doesn't see the NHL for 2-3yrs assuming Sweeney and Co don't take a kid 7 rounds before he's expected to go.

Win now mode for Boston and this deal doesn't do that unless we're flipping these pieces in a package for something bigger

Hall traded at the TDL, was a pending UFA with a NMC... aka he got to choose his team

DeBrusk RFA after next season with no say in where he gets traded.

Your comparing situations that aren't even remotely the same

I said if they decide to go the futures route for Debrusk. Jones is just a depth guy, secondary piece. The 1st is the key piece.

I think Boston is better off trying to trade for Debrusk for a defenseman now. Like Dunn or Graves type. But if they go futures route, late 1st and secondary piece is acceptable.

If they go futures then were blowing up the team

Exactly he has no term on his contract and is a 3rd line player in a UFA season with many significantly better options for that role. It makes 0 sense to make this move.

Not really. They take a 1st for Debrusk, a 2nd for Ritchie than use the cap space to sign a replacement middle 6 wing and 2nd pair d man.

Except he's an RFA after next season so the team holds his rights. FFS atleast know what your talking about before giving an opinion.

You don't trade DeBrusk unless it's for a piece that helps you now. Screw the future, you focus in a cup now. Once 37/46 hang it up we got no serious #1 potential C's coming through the system. Winning a cup or two makes it easier to go back to being a bubble playoff team like we were years ago.

So which would you rather have. Debrusk and Ritchie playing middle 6 left wing next year or add a 1st and 2nd for them and sign Coleman or Saad to play middle 6 wing?

I’d rather the latter, you are upgrading and helping the future.

Part of the win now part for Boston in that trade is I only have cap going to Edmonton this saves Boston a nice chunk of change. If Boston can get someone like Dunn for debrusk all the power to Boston but given debrusk last two years I think this is a very aggressive offer.

Personally I hope Ritchie gets taken by SEA. Let JDB slide back to his natural position and still you could get Coleman for 3RW or slide Coyle to 3RW and let Stud play 3C.

How many times has Boston moved on from a young player after a bad year and then regretted it? Wheeler, Seguin, Smith just to name a few

Even with his less than stellar play the last 2yrs, he's still top 6 among LW's in production.

31 teams
4 LW ker team
124 total LW

He's still in the top half of LW's in the NHL and again that with less than stellar play

Wheeler was a mistake that led to a cup.
Seguin was a party animal that didnt take professionalism seriously that pissed off guys in the room. made it a him or me choice.
smith was a brutal blow that we just finally recovered from. lets not do that again with debrusk

Why buyout Neal when we can dangle a player have no room on the roster? Between the two of them that’s almost 8 million that covers Barrie and getzlaf contracts which helps the team more overall now. Idk if lagesson should be considered a rookie he played a fair bit last year also has been seasoned and playing pro hockey for a very long time not going to invest much in that spot with the youth have coming up lagesson can spot third pairing no issue. Bouchard needs to play that’s pretty obvious and why bear was pushed out. Hall had a lot of say in where he got to go which limited price Boston had to pay and was a pending ufa debrusk is younger and an rfa and doesn’t have a clause forcing Boston’s hand. Smith just outplayed most of the league was one of the best goalies in the league getting him for 2.5 is a steal. Idk what your looking at as scariest offseason team is deeper and set up pretty good for next offseason as well.

Wheeler yes agree and I do it again, but they should haven't gotten more for him

Seguin was a 21yr old kid and Marchand was equally a party animal. Marchand also gave you 0g/0a in the 2013 cup finals, but no one seemed to have a problem with it.
