Stalock and a fourth is good for Killorn. More than that is too much in my opinion, especially that they are tight against the cap. Is that supposed to be the only focus, or can I share more thought about the roster?

That's way too much. If Tampa trades Killorn (or Palat), it'll be because they're hard up against the cap, so the trade will look similar to Vegas' move of Schmidt to Vancouver for a 3rd last summer. Not two A-level prospects.

The whole hard against the cap thing is negated by 4-6 teams being interested in Killorn especially if you think you're a contender

Agreed, too much for Killorn. More likely to be a straight pick than prospects that are trending well and already a couple years into development. Right target, just need to lower the price. Could see it maybe getting as high as a 2nd but think more likely ends up at a 3rd.

Thank you, just thought I would ask as last time someone got mad and said that isn’t the main focus. I believe Koskinen needs to go, so maybe we can get a starter in Ullmark or someone good. Holloway I believe needs to go in the AHL for a year, as in my opinion there is no reason to rush him. Kahun is a iffy one to resign. I probably wouldn’t do it, but if you want him it doesn’t make me say no. Very good post though!

Agreed on Holloway. Maybe that’s a reason to keep Kahun who I think is fine so long as he’s in the bottom six.

Probably not as that’s still a lot to give for him. Stalock and a fourth, or just a third is fair in my opinion especially since they are tight against the cap.

Yeah sure on the Killorn trade. Tampa accepts that and runs. This makes it almost an all in year for the Oilers but with McDavid and Draisaitl in their primes (every year SHOULD be ALL IN) Holland comments were quite hollow.
The roster still has a lot of holes with overpaid bottom 6 and two bad goalies. Expecting Smith to repeat his lucky run is a mistake. A goalie like Mzarek should be a priority

Yes I know who he is, and I’m telling you, you won’t get more than what I said. It doesn’t matter how good the player is if you are tight against the cap and you are using him to free cap.

No they wont. Everyone knows Tampa's position. Leverage is a thing. Any GM that would give in to Tampa would be laughed at!

You're acting like the oilers would be the only team interested . It takes 1GM to think Playoffs Killorn is the piece that puts us over I'll pay the premium. Like Briesbois did with Goodrow and Coleman

so your Ken Holland and Kyle Dubas offers a 3 and 5 your not going to go a bit higher if you think Killorn can be the difference. I'm soooo glad I got a GM with the balls to go for it!!!

If it’s a bidding war that’s different hahahahaha! Also, it all depends on if he is the difference to push your team.

multiple teams being interested drives up the price reducing not completely eliminating cap issues. you are still watching the playoffs right Killorn is a difference maker this time of year

Well of course if multiple teams offer the same amount! Just like what happened with Coleman. Edmonton didn’t think he was worth as much as Tampa thought. Of course Killorn is a great player, but unless he pushes my team over the edge, I am not paying more than what I said.

It was nice discussing with you. Have a good day!

The level to which Tampa is against the cap will seriously effect their return. I mean, any of us would gladly be in that situation with a 2020 cup, possibly a 2021 cup, and a core to contend for years.

Tampa is currently $5mil over the cap with 19 contracts. They have to move 2 if not all 3 of Johnson, Palat, and Killorn to be cap compliant next year barring a Gourde or McDonaugh move. It doesn't help their leverage that all the contracts they need to move have trade protection. Cirelli, Point, and Sergachev are their only $4mil plus contracts with no trade protection and obviously they are untouchable.

Johnson- 3 years left on an overpaying contract and a 12 Team NTC, will require assets to move contract
Palat- 1 year left on a market value contract, 12 Team NTC
Killorn- 2 years left on a market value contract, 16 Team NTC
Gourde- 4 years left on a bit of an overpay contract, other teams will be wary of term, Full NTC
McDonaugh- 5 years left, good value now but other teams will be wary of term as it goes until he's 37, Full NTC
