Yeah I've heard so much about this. So if I understand this correctly, if the team does not QO him, he is a free agent then? if so, he surely understands he won't get that from any team though right? So I would think any team that has him will simply say "alright we want to sign you and here is the contract but we're going to wait till your QO is passed to do it.". I mean technically he's free to go anywhere but the team who has him will have a leg up on negotiation and will offer him good money at a AAV more reasonable to both him and the team anyway. Unless he wants to really pick where he'll play, chances are he'd probably just sign with the team he's on assuming they offer him a fair value contract.

It's still a high risk , regardless of this year's playoff failure Marner is still a top winger , playmaker in the league. Mier is tier below Marner IMO, it's high risk move that o just don't see the benefit for TO
