The Sabres dont need Dumba and Dumba is overrated. That Minnesota trade is awful, and they arent moving Eichel for a dman

Can't see them moving Boldy AND Fiala, that's two of the top six wings. Unless it's some massive deal with Olofsson also involved. Rossi would be more likely but apparently Sabres might not be interested in him? The eventual Eichel trade that goes down should be interesting, I don't think Buffalo gets as much as some people think, but we'll see.

Did it get reported that the Sabres didn't want Rossi or is that just from idiot Sabres fans on here using them passing on drafting him when they could have?

Well, Russo's speculated that they might not be interested in him due the fact he was passed over but even he's said it was just that... speculation.

But yeah, I've seen my fare share of Buffalo fans try an use that one before. Especially while all the uncertainty about Rossi was going on after he was first diagnosed with the long-haul symptoms of Covid a few months ago.

And I get the uncertainty over Rossi's COVID recovery but let's not ignore no one knows how Eichel's neck recovery will go. He's a bit of a question mark too.

Regarding the draft, they passed over Rossi because they had Eichel and Cozens in their system already. Quinn is a right shooting RW so he fit a need better I'd guess. Doesn't mean they wouldn't have taken Rossi at 8 if Quinn was off the board at 7.

Oh yeah, I agree. That's been my mindset all along. It's why I think everyone is off base when they say it starts with Rossi. Why? Because he's our top prospect? They're better off taking Boldy and one of either Khovanov or Khusnutdinov instead and drafting one of Wright, Lambert, or Savoie next year or Bedard, Michkov in 2023.

Having both of Cozens and Rossi at that point would be redundant. Sabers should be therefore targeting returns for best future fit into the rebuild and not necessarily a teams top prospect.

I think Rossi makes sense if they're giving up Eichel. If both Cozens and Rossi develop to their potential, that's a solid 1-2 punch down the middle for years to come (or until you still can't make the playoffs and they get pissed enough to get themselves shipped out of town, whichever happens first. It is Buffalo. lol)

Not really. My point is that Buffalo will be likely looking at a top 3 pick for the next 3 drafts. The five prospects I named are all franchise level centers who will be as good as if not better than Eichel. They don't need Rossi.

Shayne Wright and Connor Bedard are both generational centers with the potential to be in the McDavid or Crosby tier of impact.

Brad Lambert and Matvei Michkov in the Mackinnon tier.

Mathew Savoie in the Matthews/Barkov/Eichel tier.

Any one of those 5 would be their Eichel replacement at 1C, thereby pushing either Cozens or Rossi into a 2C role. One of those two is either forced into a 3C role or pushed into a role as a top six winger. Which neither deserve if that happens. Having both is therefore redundant.

As I said it's about best potential future fit, not necessarily about the best prospect back.
