Its Time for Big Changes

Description
Nashville has spent the past 3 seasons in a mediocre place where we can't get out of the 1st round and continue to keep the roster together and say we can get it done with these guys. Well not anymore, Nashville needs to come out of the gate and make drastic moves to change the look of this team.

Almost all of this depends on Nashville being able to make a deal with Seattle to select Duchene because we couldn't protect all of the players we would need to if not. I think Nashville may have to sacrifice a pick or player, but who knows how Seattle views Duchene its not like he can't bounce back and return to form.

Koskinen would be a solid backup for a year while Ingram gets his feet under him. Edmonton will have to give up something to dump him, but Lavoie is one of their better prospects. Sending a UFA or two their way could balance the scales. At least enough to make this a win-win for both sides.

I think Bunting is a great UFA to take a chance on, but Nashville would also have the space to go after a bigger name if they choose.

I don't know if this team is better at the end of the day, but we've made some moves to improve our prospect pool and the team is much younger with room to grow.

I'm down for all o these deals -- but I'm not sure what to think of Kuokkanen at 2C. He's played mostly wing in NJD to my knowledge...and that's about all I know about the guy lol

I don't know if NSH needs Bunting in this scenario. I'd just give a guy like Pitlick/Novak a shot to make that 3rd line.

Yeah sorry, it wouldn't cost that much to dump Koskinen.

I still make the trade, but the context is making room for Hamilton. I may be undervaluing what Marino can get a little, but I think too many Pens fans think they can get far too much for him.

No...the problem is after Dumo, Marino is the last defenseman that the Pens should be considering trading. If no matter how hard Hexy tries he can't trade Zucker, Matheson or Petterson and can't sweaten the pot enough for Seattle to take one, then maybe he might consider moving Marino, but it would be a last ditch effort to get cap compliant.

I played with the idea where instead of Bunting we sign Granlund to a 4.5milx5 and move Kuokkanen down to play with Patrick and Kunin to really spark offense in the top 9. But I'd agree if Pitlick isn't a part of the Duchene deal he deserves a shot for a full time roster spot. Novak I'd like to see with Jeannot because they had great chemistry in Milwaukee. Maybe give Trenin a shot in the top 9 he has the potential.

I think you missed the part where I pointed out that it would be Dougie Hamilton being signed which would push Letang down to the 2nd pair. You trade Marino to make that happen.

But...I think you are missing the part where the Pens have about a 0.05% chance of signing Dougie. I understand that moves would have to be made in order to sign Dougie, but making those moves without a guarantee would be stupid. Hamilton is likely going to be making about as much as Letang currently, so if you want him, you aren't just losing Marino. You also lose the flexibility to sign ZAR, Blueger and a vet goalie. The D was not the reason the Pens lost in the playoffs. I'm not even blaming Jarry (I'm pinning it mostly on the goalie coach). However a decent vet goalie (hopefully brings a coach with him two), can do a lot for Jarry's confidence and if Jarry fumbles, be there to pick up the slack.

      ***sighs***

Clearly you don't trade Marino without knowing Hamilton is coming. Critical thinking doesn't seem to be one of your strong suits.

Whatever...I'll just let you go back to playing NHL 21 because that is the only way that Dougie is coming to Pitt. Hamilton has been allowed to talk to other teams recently and has there been a single reporter anywhere that has said that he has talked to Pitt? So why work in hypotheticals? Wouldn't it make more sense to try to work with something that is remotely realistic? I mean at least you aren't trading Crosby or Geno, but even then moving Marino is almost as likely.

The Pens are not moving Marino "period".

Still unless you are playing NHL 21, why bother making proposals that have zero basis in reality?

I have to assume you're using hyperbole to make your point about not wanting to trade Marino. You can't possibly think that's Pettersson's value, can you?

tears of joy Wow...narcissistic much? You actually think anyone on here cares enough about you to follow you around on the different AGM's? Maybe...just maybe people are interested in anything to do with their favorite teams?
