Shoutout to sk540, Bdawwwgy1, and others for some inspiration.
So, it feels like the CBJ are at the "Rebuilding" end of the spectrum, as opposed to the "Re-tooling" one. Davidson is back, Jarmo is extended, and we hired the young, prospects-friendly HC in Larsen.
Jones wants gone, and it feels like it is time for CBJ to shake things up a little bit more than they are used to.
For this, I decided to push players out who can maximize returns for futures, and hopefully get something going here that can work long-term. Equally, the goal was to finally "weaponize the cap" in the way that Jarmo has been saying he would for two years now.
The goal here is either (a) maximizing returns for picks/prospects; or, (b) obtaining low-risk/ high-reward guys who can fill roster spots. Also, knowing there is no "Taxi Squad" next year, Neal and Kassian would instead be buried. I'd give them the chance to play for the roster, and who knows, maybe one of them finds their magic, but I'm not expecting anything.
I would also be looking to move some combination of the TOR/ TBL/ PHI 1sts this year, either for prospects, or to pick up additional draft capital. I understand the constant bemoaning of this year's draft, but my concern is less that this is a "bad" draft, and more just a general discomfort of loading up too much from one class.
The last wild card for me is Foligno. I'm not as certain as most that he comes back. As much as he has talked about loving the city and the team, I wouldn't be surprised if he signed a one or two year deal to chase a cup while this team tries to rebound.
Let me know your thoughts! Always down for some feedback that is more than one sentence!
These players also aren’t coming over with extensions, if that changes anything.
It doesn't change too much if they aren't coming with extensions because Philly can sign them by themselves if CBJ would be willing to take that much cap off their books. Voracek, JVR and Ghost don't have that much value because of their contracts so I would expect CBJ to want some compensation for taking 18,75 mil of cap.

Duly noted. Still think Jones isn’t going to sign until he can test UFA; Laine is…who knows.
