Just kinda unfortunate using this draft as the rebuild draft... (columbus: "hey we heard that!") I wonder which GMs of current lottery teams would offer their '22 or '23 1sts for Eichel... especially with many of them oddly eager to compete (ANA, LAK, etc.)

I'd rather have decent odds at Wright/Lambert or Bedard/Michkov and a fall back option of the likes of Simon Nemec in '22 or (wow funny coincidence another Slovak) Dalibor Dvorsky in '23 than definitely having the '21 3rd overall and taking Eklund

Would one of ANA or LA trade *both* their '22 and '23 1st for Eichel straight up? Highly doubt either is out of the lottery by even 2023. But they might think so.

Anaheim's best assets right now are Gibby, Zegras, Drysdale, Comtois, 2022 1st, 2021 1st...they're the most essential pieces that the Ducks have towards building and growing in the next 2-3 years. Trading any of them really throws everything off.

I love Eichel, and think he's worth a lot, but picking him up to move up 5-6 spots in the league standings, and still being a bottom 10 team isn't a smart move. Ducks need to wait another year or two before they even start considering moving picks/prospects. Gotta build a solid foundation before you start going wild with the interior design.

I do think LA is in a much better position to do it though. They're a couple of years ahead of us.

True, but GMBM has already said that Drysdale and Zegras are untouchable, which probably makes it tough to put together the package you guys will want. Don't think it's the right plan right now.

Main thing I worry about is the GMBM situation. Like, he's 66 years old, and has undoubtably done a fine job through his tenure (Aside from maybe holding on to the attempt at contention for a year or two too long...). If he's ready to leave after this year, all good, but if he's just trying to save his job, that's a dangerous spot to put the team in.

Have to think someone offers more than that for Eichel. That's pretty bad for Buf.
