I thought it would be a no, LOL. I will say that the 2021 draft is thought to be much more of a crapshoot draft than 2022, so it may be a better time to use the 1st to dump cap than a typical draft year.

Definitely is, but Wilson seems to be adamant that we will compete in playoffs next season 🤦‍♂️ we should go full rebuild now and get that top 5 pick in 2022 but he won't do it sadly.

Guess we will see by end of July if his end of season media availability is what he actually does (get 3C, fix goaltending, aim to compete).
If they decide to move a Hertl or Burns, it's the real start of a rebuild without saying it

I will say that Carolina was the last major team to eat a salary dump for a 1st round pick, so if they truly do let go of Dougie, it would not shock me if they did it again.

Oh I thought it was going to be DerpAngelo given the title and tbh maybe he's a more viable ​option... I think a low key market at least helps him stay non insane

Don’t think the canes would get tied to 7 more years of karlsson even if the sharks retained salary (which I don’t think they’d do in the first place if they’re already taking on Gardiner salary).
