Zegras and Drysdale are reportedly untouchable. No point trading either one of them right now for a player that doesn't immediately catapult them into a playoff contender.

I have read the same. Just hoping GMBM feels the pressure and makes them available.

In my humble opinion, our six best assets are: Gibson, Zegras, Drysdale, our 2021 first, our 2022 first, and Comtois. All of them are essential to our five-year plan, and should be untouchable. Other than them, what do we have that could possibly buy Eichel?!?!?

Los Angeles has the surplus assets, but not really the need. (That's why Rob Blake keeps talking about obtaining an equivalently valuable LD.) Anaheim has the need, but not the surplus assets. I don't see SoCal as a reasonable destination for Jack Eichel. Plus, as I've said many times before, I think it would be malpractice for any GM to make a franchise-altering trade like one for Eichel before finding out how he plays in actual NHL games, i.e., before at least half the season has been played. But maybe I'm overplaying the seriousness of his season-ending injury.

I’d pass on those if I’m Buffalo
Start by replacing the 2nd round picks with 1sts

And it’s also gonna take a team’s BEST young players/prospects, and not “secondary” pieces

Hahaha, as a Ducks fan, Efffff that! Ducks rebuild is going almost as planned. The only unfortunate part is just how poorly our tradeable assets performed this year (ie. Rico/Rakell/Manson/Silfverberg), which will reduce their potential trade value.

I don't see the Sabres getting quite the haul we all assumed they would back when GMKA said it would take at least 4 first round or equal assets to trade for him. The waters are a lot murkier these days with injury and the team and Eichel butting heads.

I guess it depends on how much of a market there is for him. We can all sit around and go off about how NYR/LA/Minny/etc. are great destinations for him, but there's some pretty big question marks around his health, how to add that cap hit long term, etc.

I feel like the return is really going to be somewhere in the middle of all of these posts. It's kind of weird/surprising to say, but can a comparison on value be done from the first Jeff Carter trade? Carter was 2 years older, but had just signed a long term deal, and had eerily similar numbers to Eichel.

The return netted Philly a 1st (8OA), Voracek (solid enough prospect, 21 years old, coming off of a 49 pt season), and a 3rd. Doesn't exactly scream "All of your best prospects and picks!!!".

Nothing Buffalo has done recently gives me any optimism that they'll get market value for Eichel.

Hall. Lazar for a 2nd Bjork
Montour = 3rd....paid Brendan Guhle and a first-round pick in the 2019 (Brayden Tracey)
Staal = 3rd and 5th
Kahun= nothing

idk i feel like theyll end up getting
roster player
A prospect
1st round pick

i hope they get more but im not optimistic

I agree with all of the above. If Adams wants anything close to the return that he (and Sabres fans) are hoping for, I don't think it's going to be this summer. That injury *has* to discount what teams are willing to offer. If he just moves him for the sake of moving him, it's not going to be a happy day for Sabres fans. Fast forward to the regular season, where it'll be virtually impossible to flip him due to the cap hit. Then, his NMC kicks in at the start of 2022 free agency, which further f*cks them.

If I were a betting man, I'd put money on the 2022 draft being where Eichel gets traded.

I don’t think it’s a good comparison Carter was obviously a really good player- but not an MVP candidate like Eichel

And yeah, some teams will be scared off by the injury,
but some will still want him
And those that do will be in a bidding war for one of the league’s best players

We’ll see what happens…..
but i expect a big return

Blake is removed by the 25th amendment if he refuses that proposed trade.

And how would you feel if after trading away those assets (including two players expected to contend for a spot on the roster this year), on the first day of training camp, Eichel's doctors announced that he wasn't ready to play, perhaps for half the season, perhaps all of it? As a fellow Kings fan, don't you think that we should have some kind of insurance against that risk, however small that risk might be?

I'm not a big believer in an Eichel trade, especially one in the absence of proven game performance. But reasonable minds can differ, and I can even accept being in the minority here.

Without Turcotte and Kaliyev, the team still has a top 5 prospect pool in the league. You make that bet every single time, even if he misses a full year, because he is only 24 and on a long term contract. The team will still get net positive value even with the possibility of a burned year. I'm not worried about the possibility of $10M off the ice for a year; the team just went through that with $10M worth of Phaneuf and Kovalchuck coming off the books this year.

Personally, I think a trade would be closer to 2021 1st + Kempe + Turcotte, but the details are close to irrelevant. This would be a bigger acquisition than Richards who was (2nd round?) Pick + Simmonds + Schenn (Top prospect at the time).

If I'm Philly, I would even add York or Foerster and another prospect for this to happen right ****in now.
