Description
Continuation of my 2021-2022 Red Wings team. If some of the trades don't make sense just go back and look at that one.
4th round pick to Seattle to protect Stetcher, Lindstrom and Smith.
Gardiner trade is a cap dump.
Dunn trade as the blues couldn't protect him.
Tampa Johnson cap dump, get two decent prospects, send them a fourth rounder to justify getting a first. I take the 2023 first so they aren't making their first pick in the fourth round for 2022. Also I think a better chance of them missing the playoffs in 23 than next season although I doubt they do but I would take the risk.
Draft Eklund and Cossa in the first round of the draft.
Trade deadline I would have been looking at getting anything for Dekeyser, Stetcher, Glendening and Greiss.
I decide to resign Fabbri because I like him rather than trade him for futures, although if there was a deal good enough I would have taken it.
I finally decide to trade Bertuzzi even though I like him, just injury history and his style of play makes him a liability in my opinion. Saw alot of Toronto people offering something like that for him so I just went with that.
I chose to take on they last year of Neal's contract and send them svechnikov at there is just no room on the roster for him, I am expecting him to have a breakout season finally hence the first rounder.
Other than the minor league signings I decide to go all in on Barkov, players like him just don't hit free agency that often. I'm guessing Florida does whatever they can to resign him and I'm guessing he would have other places he would prefer to play but there is a perfect fit in Detroit. Just getting ready to compete for a cup and alot of good prospects coming up.
I know the goaltending isn't ideal and the defence is questionable, but I think that could also be addressed via free agency.

Just what I've been seeing on alot of Toronto AGMs. I also don't think Nick Robertson and his 6 NHL games are better than Bertuzzi.

That exact trade was offered by a TOR ACGM only a few hours ago.

Bertuzzi is very valuable to Detroit. He won't be traded for anything less than a haul. It's either keep him on the team or get a massive overpay, there is no middle ground.

Gotta remember Toronto is in win now mode, like right now, can't wait many more years. None of those prospects are guaranteed to be significant nhl players although they are pretty good prospects.

Nice work. I like the look of the roster. I would rather keep Bertuzzi then take that package to be honest, even though it is fair value. Let Fabbri go, trade him at the deadline to a contender and slot Bertuzzi in the 2nd LW spot. I would love for Detroit to land Barkov but he will go to a true contender or stay in Florida in my opinion. Maybe add a UFA to play LD instead of Cholowski, I am not to sure that he is NHL material. I am hoping Detroit can add to the goalie depth in the organization by drafting Wallstedt or trading for another young goalie.

It would be easy enough to just add at LD, but I feel like until they start becoming more competitive, free agents are going to be hard pressed to come here. I feel the same about Chowlowski as well that's why I only signed him for two years, if he isn't nhl worthy after that he wouldn't get a qualifying offer let alone a contract. I agree about goalie as well but I think we need one more offensive talent, could find a good goalie via free agency or trade. I was thinking of vanetek in Washington actually, he's going to be lost to Seattle in the draft I think.

I would like to keep Bertuzzi but his injury history is the reason why I have him traded, plus that package is pretty decent.

That would be ideal, especially if Seider and Hronek develop well and become a good one two punch on the right side. This team would be scary for a few years, if they get some good goaltending.
