Description
Trade Burakovsky and re-sign Saad with the money saved. It helps acquire futures, while maintaining the roster (assuming you think Burakovsky and Saad are relatively equal).

Note that I didn't put too much thought into the trade. It's really more the idea that I want to throw out there.

Moving Bura in cap saving move is an idea that could be explored
but you didnt save any cap here, 100k more for Saad who feels high with that contract. If you can get Saad to take the tofolli deal the trade makes more sense.

Personally I would rather see Bura moved explored for a guys like Mangiapane or Boone Jenner. Those makes more sense then draft picks and not saving any cap space

To bad we need Mangiapane more than Burakovsky IMO

It is a cap saving move. I just went ahead and redeployed the savings on Saad, who would otherwise walk.

Essentially it's a question of what you'd rather have. Option A is Saad and futures, and option B is Burakovsky on an expiring deal. Those futures can help extend the window.

Fair enough but I was just saying players like him or Boone Jenner as an example are the guys the try to see who is available for Bura. Min Max their roster a bit squeezing additional cap space where they can

Same could be said with Kadri, see if they is a 2C option they can target for him at a slightly lesser cap hit. If not avs shouldnt be aggressive moving guys IMO

how is spending 100k more on a top 6 winger a cap saving move?

Because Saad is a UFA. He's not part of the team.

I get what you're saying, and it's probably just semantics in the end, but they gain cap space to spend on another player. The way I deployed it here just happens to be on a guy that was on the team last year.

That aside, the main point is that someone is leaving. Saad is the most likely, but this way the team maintains their roster and also gains assets. I think I'm into it.

They definitely won't. Trading your 1st for Burakovsky and a 2nd that's 2 years away makes no sense. Maybe Burakovsky and a swap of 1sts is somewhat realistic, but I'd even balk on that.
