Play Miro on his good side

Description
Been reading articles and watching back plays, and I’ve realized that Miro is way better on his proper side than his off side. That means either Lindell or Oleksiak should be gone by next year and replaced by a RHD (something we don’t have a lot of).

I dont see Lindell for Walker trade happening or being good for both teams especially for the Stars. If you're gonna play him with Heiskanen you're going to quickly regret it,Walker is best when he has a strong defensive defenseman on his right,so actually Lindell-Walker could be the pairing that works best. He's also the second best offensive defenseman on LA behind Doughty, and the Kings are in desperate need of offense from the blue line, trading Walker makes zero sense for them. He's got a great contract for what he brings too.

They could always move Sekera to the right next to Miro and put Lindell with Klingberg. Keep in mind, Harley is coming up too so that's another LD coming through the ranks.

We could put Walker with Oleksiak if they fit well. The main idea is to find a RHD and play Heiskanen on the left side. Like I said it could be a possibility, but the main idea of this is to find a RHD to help our right side, and also help Heiskanen by putting him on the left side. Doesn't have to be Walker, but someone like that.

Sekera is barley NHL caliber at this point, no way that we ruin Miro even more.

I 100% agree on Miro. Nill & Co should absolutely do whatever it takes to unleash all that talent. Playing him on the left side is one of the obvious steps IMO.

I do not know if they intend to sign Vatanen, but that should be on the Top of the list because of our shortage of RD. I really do not get his usage under Bowness last year. He was regularly scratch in favor of Hanley and Sekera. I mean, Vatanen is no Bobby Orr but he was better than Sekera and Hanley from what I saw.

There should be other UFA options in terms of RD like Montour, Larsson, Ceci, etc. but a trade involving Lindell and a RD could be the way to go. It's Nill's job to dig out potential candidates and work something out. Looking at his past trading activities, my guess is that he will give too much money to JO and still play Miro on the right side. And Miro will continue to bail out his partner and will be restrained in his offensive play.

Why not keep Lindell with Klingberg and simply go out and get another good defensive dman to play With Miro instead of spending 7M on Oleksiak and Wennberg?

I'd keep Sekera for one more year even though I really don't want to, but if we can get Vatanen on a 1 year deal at Sekera's money, but I'm not sure if we can unload him easily. My ideal plan is to sign Stecher in two years to play him on our bottom parring.

He's a solid veteran presence and can help evolve his game. Chara's abilities have been questioned for a few years now playing with McAvoy and look how good McAvoy turned out. Granted, Sekera isn't Chara, but Sekera can stay back and play the defensive game which opens up Miro's ability to play a more two-way style by increasing his offensive drive and making him more comfortable.

Sekera is only good at blocking shots at this point in his career. Sekera is going to teach Harley, rather than Heiskanen. It could possibly work, but I'm not keen on it.

I've changed Oleksiak to Martinez. I really like Wennberg, and I'd like to see what he could do with a speedy Hintz. Lindell is on a long contract and he'll have a NMC come next season, with Harley coming up the ranks, and with Heiskanen being way better on the left side. He doesn't fit in the next new years.

Oleksiak is a fine partner for Miro when they let Miro be the offensive player. Rig was pinching and getting into the offense a lot this past season for some reason. Worked better in the playoffs when Miro was pushing the play. I’d love to find a stay at home righty for him, but there aren’t many out there. Oleksiak and Klinger worked well together. Put Miro with Lindell. Put Miro and Klinger out there on ozone draws like Monty was starting to do before he got let go. Lindell and whoever is trusted the most on the dzone draws. I think our defense is just fine if we just sign Oleksiak. I think it’s a usage problem. You’ve got your most talented defenseman on the second pair playing defense only. Makes zero sense. Cheat Miro out there on offensive draws with Klinger. Tell Rig to hang back and play a simple game like he was doing in the playoffs. If you absolutely have to have an offensive pair and a shut down pair run Miro-Klinger and Lindell-Rig. Tho I feel like Lindell and Rig would struggle without the other two, so we’re back to balanced pairs and Bones needing to figure out better ways to use them

I’m fine with Martinez, but not for two years. Which means we prolly don’t get Martinez
