I'm sure that's true. I'm not saying Calgary would or should trade him. Just that if he were to become available, I'd be ok with giving up the #8 overall and more to get him.

I think that the purpose of this post isn't to address the adherents of the four teams owning these four players, but the fans of the other 26 teams who keep trying to trade us rentals or other nonsense for the pick.

Just curious as I don't follow the Kings, what makes Mikey Anderson untouchable over Gabe Vilardi?

I think Mikey Anderson is on their 1st pair and he is their most reliable LD. Not sure about vilardi tho

Position depth. LA has an absolute void at LHD prospects behind Anderson and Bjornfot. Both of those kids emerged as staples on the Kings blue line and are needed for the future. Read Doughty's statements about Anderson at the end of the season and you'll see what he brings to the team.

I'm not saying that he's a higher valued prospect than kids like Turcotte or Vilardi, but the Kings have an abundance of center prospects and could afford to trade one or two of them if there's a quality player coming back. They can't afford to trade either of Anderson or Bjornfot.

I wouldn’t say Hanifin is untouchable. There were rumours of him on the trade block as recently as the fall.

I think the Flames would ask for Turcotte though, which is likely a non-starter from the Kings. Hanifin had a really good season this year so the only way I see them moving him would be for a stud C prospect

I would do Turcotte for Hanifin if I were Blake.

You should read it again. I'm not suggesting that a single draft pick would return any of these players. However, the #8 + Turcotte + Kupari is a pretty solid deal that would likely entice several of these teams to consider it.

This is the sort of scenario we'd look for for Jones, but for Werenski we kind of need a "is a bonafide NHL-level #1C right now" type return.

Hanifin had one good season,he's not nearly worth Turcotte.He's also the weakest of the 4 you mentioned by far.

I agree that he's the lowest valued of the options listed here. I wouldn't trade #8 + Turcotte for Hanafin, but I'd do a straight swap.

For the other three guys I'd give up the #8 + Turcotte and probably a third asset.
