Ovechkin has way more then just grit to his game is the issue, Tkachuk will max out at 70 points in a career year if Calgary is lucky, he isn't someone I'd personally build around, it would be like if toronto were to build around nylander or Vancouver around Boeser all great players but guys you really want to complement your Matthews and Pettersson's

Tkachuk is a lot more like Landeskog or Benn, can lead the team as the captain but cant be the sole franchise player

You realize Tkachuk has already gotten well over 70 points right? And we haven't had a gull NHL season since then either. He paced over 70 last year and that was widely considered a bad year for everyone on the Flames.

he 77 points and that's imho will be his career year i don't see Tkachuck being a piece to build around for me he is support player on an elite team, if Calgary has him as their best player that team won't go very far

As stated above I see Tkachuk as a Landeskog/Benn player, maybe not the #1 player but he can definitely be a good #2 and team leader
