I think I'd rather just have Galchenyuk playing in the top 6 still. Hes been a slam dunk. Sign him cheap and give him term

I like Chucky, I really do but 12 G and 41 P (prorated) is not a top 6 forward. He would barely make most teams 3rd line.

Its unfair to judge him by his numbers on the teams he played on between being traded from Montreal and coming to Toronto. He was never given a chance. He has been such a different player in Toronto, and he has complimented Nylander and Tavares extraordinarily well. He was easily their best reoccurring linemate this season. He can be signed cheaper than Wood, longer term, and shines in this role as a complimentary player. He doesnt need to drive the line. Hes been very good

The trouble with the Leaf's is not Reilly or any of the other players moved in this proposal. The Leafs have a fairly good foundation, the problem is they have too many players making 8+ Mil. The guy I look at as being overpaid is Marner, I know he is an elite talent and puts up 90+ points but so does Gaudreau at 4.153 Mil less a year and there is only 3 years difference in age. Imagine for a minute if the Leafs had signed Marner for Gaudreau money then they could have balanced their lineup better and may be headed into the SC semi final series themselves.

I guess I should have specified this but those are strictly his prorated numbers with the Leafs. I did not include his numbers with the Sens. Like I said I do really like Chucky but I just don't see him as a top 6 forward. I would absolutely love to have him on the 3rd line and he can fill in in the top 6 periodically but not be a permanent fixture there IMO.

Also @NHLfan10506

Would the opinion change if Reilly signed an extension with NJ? Or would we still say no to trading for him? I'm having a hard time not being interested in some of these deals if an extension came with them

If Devils want to sign Rielly, they could try next year as he will be a UFA. We would have a better sense of what our long-term needs will be at that point. If Smith continues to develop, we add Clarke or Hughes in draft, we may not need him.

As for adding Rielly as rental see https://www.capfriendly.com/armchair-gm/team/2471799
