I get Tavares but wheeler seems a poor fit

Personally I love both guys. Wheeler is physical and although he is slowing down he would be solid on the 3rd with kreiders speed/physical game and Chytil adds some skill and speed.

There’s so many Leafs fans that there’s bound to be bad takes - Tavares is still very much wanted. Personally, I would trade one of our RW, if we had to break up the big 4, and try to maximize the value we got back by trading Marner.

Leafs (if there was a trade) would probably want some of your young players like kakko, Lafreniere, or Chytil, or a package including Zibanejad.

Jets could not accept this deal fast enough. A top RHD prospect and a younger RW who isn’t slow as molasses— sold!

I was going to add Chytil to it but thought it might be too much. It’s not a buyers market for that contract even though he’s still good(11M). Also he has all the control in the situation. Either way I just wanted to see it on paper but we could never afford it and resign all our youth. I think that team could win a cup with the top 9 Built like that

Ya I figure that also, we also can’t afford this lineup past 1 season so we wouldn’t target him anyway. Just wanted to see it on paper

He plays wing but can play C.. same way Nylander plays wing but can ply C

I’ve seen him play centre but he’s not that good at it he’s not awful either but that’s not what his natural position is

In this example we are talking 3C so it’s not a big concern and he should be better than many 3Cs

Tavares really is not unwanted and many fans got a wakeup call of what happens when he is knocked out

at least when Matthews got hurt JT stepped up and lead his team to multiple victories including 2 shutouts
